Brown spot on mouth

Luie has a brown spot on his lip. It will dry up, fall off and then come back again. It has been doing this over and over for about 2 months. I took him to the vet and of course the day of our apt. it had just fell off and the vet could not see anything. The vet looked all inside of his mouth and said he could not see anything and that everything inside the mouth looked good. It keeps coming back and it looks brown at first, then it turns black and dries up and falls off over and over again. Other than this spot he is very healthy. Have any of you ever seen anything like this before? Jann

i have a panther and it seems to do the same thing. researched all the random little things that can happen from mouthrot to a uri and have found nothing. to me it almost looks like he has a piece of a leaf just hanging out but my panther doesnt really eat leaves. it seems to just be the skin hanging off almost like its dry. so i dont know what to say other than i have seen the same thing in mine and still havent figured out what it is

did you fed him soft bodied caterpillar previously?

I believe silk worms would be classified as a soft bodied caterpillars. When was that picture taken? Does it look like that now?

You said this has happen in your panther; have you ever had your vet take a look at it? If so what did the vet say?

Has anyone else out there seen this before?

not yet but im actally calling one today becuz the little guy is stressed while he just sits around and his urate is a little bit smelly and kind of jelly like so ill ask him about it when i go there either tomorrow or friday

already planned on doing that as part of the appt to make sure that hes fit internally too but i appreciate the advice. i think i might read this site and what to do in every circumstance way too much, but id rather know what to do about everything than to scramble to find answers. i appreciate the advice tho

i guess i need one bit of advice now that i think about it, how fresh does it have to be, cuz my appt is early so itll probably have to be thursday offering to the bottom of the cage gods.

the brown spots that i had were just skin that was dead or about to die and was falling off. asked me if he climbed on the mesh of the cage and if he rubbed his face on it. i know he climbs on the cage is what i told him but didnt never saw him rub his face, so the brown spot, at least with me, is just skin that is falling off. as for the stool. coccidia is what i get to play with, and two weeks of orally giving medicine to someone who hates to open his mouth. so fun fun

no problem and thank you as well, your conundrum kinda pushed me to go to the vet since i had the same problem and never wouldve found out bout the parasites so once again thank you too

Is it firmly attached to the lip?
if it regrows from the same spot it may be a virus infection.
Don some latex gloves and gently work the mouth to get a good idea
it it easily rubs off without a problem it may be just a response to some exoskeleton stuck in his gums (look for red swelling)
If it's a growth out from the gums or from the lip without swelling, redness
and shows signs of cell mutation .. :(

Where did you get the chameleon from and how old is it?
has it been exposed to other chams or reptiles (including birds).
just to be sure isolate it and bleach all the common items you've got
to avoid passing it to other chams.
