Brown spot on mouth

while handling one of my younger veilds
I noticed something very close to that

I suspect it's dried mucus left over from drinking
or something like that.

I gave mine a very close inspection
the lips and gums were healthy and pink
no infection or other issue.

what would be good is to get it under a microscope
and have a better look at it
that would solve a bunch of questions.

Vet Visit

Well, I took Luie to the vet again today and there was some brown hanging on his lip this time. It was drying up and getting ready to fall off. Last month the day our vet appointment finally came, it had just fell off and the vet could not see anything. Today the vet was able to scrap off a little of the brown and look at it under the microscope and said it was a bacterial infection called Bacterial Stomastitis. The vet get me a topical cream called Silvadene that I have to apply once a day for 3 weeks. Other than this infection, the vet said Luie is very healthy. Jann

I think my Ambilobe has the same thing, he has a black spot on his lip that keeps on coming, and falling off. Im going to make an appointment today to see what it is. Click on the link to see the pics.

Hi Jann,
I didn't go to the vet yet, Im going on Wednesday. I know it seems like a long time but hes eating and drinking normally. It fell off a while ago...so Im not shure what he'll say. I think maybe its a lip sore, people also told me it might be an infection since it keeps on coming back. Hope your cham gets better!!

The topical cream called Silvadene that the vet give Luie seems to be working. Let me know what your vet says. Jann

The vet thinks this spot on his mouth is probably a malformation of the lip where the area keeps getting shed a lot more frequently than the others. It grows, stays for a while, then falls off and then the cycle goes around and around.
The vet said I can either peel it off or allow it to fall of on its own when I see it but he doubts it will cause any issues to Luie's health.
