breeding my panthers

i have been attempting to breed my male and female ambanja panthers but the female does not seem receptive. The male will sit there for 30 minutes without moving closer to the female at all. She gets very bright colored which i heard is a good thing but she wont move towards him at all either. I have been putting the female in the males cage. They are both about a year and a half now so i would have thought thats about the right age to start breeding. The female has never laid any eggs previously. I give them calcium every time I feed them which is about 3-4 times a week and it is a varied diet. How can I tell if they are receptive towards eachother and how long does it normally take. The male is very receptive because he turns very very bright blue and bobs his head up and down but never moves closer to her.

How long have u been trying this? How long do u leave them in together for? do you watch them the entire time?

if she remains a nice color and doesnt turk dark and hiss...etc. it is normal for her to hang around, better yet walk away (teasing the male into getting her IMO)lol.

I agree with colorcham. If she stays a pretty peach or pink color then she is being receptive. It is normally the male that will advance and the female may play hard to get so to speak. However, they may not enjoy the crowd and it may be best to leave them alone and just peek in to see if all is still going well.

How old are they?

If the colors are deep rather than pale and if she is gaping, rocking or giving other indications that she is unhappy with the male being there, she is likely non-receptive.

If she has paler colors, doesn't rock or hiss than she should be receptive and it would be fine to leave the two together for a while....providing they are old enough.

they are both about a year and a half. The female will get a pretty pink color with her vertical lines turning dark. She will get really big looking like she is trying to show off. I have tried it twice now and left them in for maybe 30 minutes each time. The first time she was happy until the male grabbed her then she turned dark and started hissing at him so i took her out but the second time they both just sat there staring at eachother but neither made any advances towards eachother. I am afraid to leave them without watching because I dont want either one to get hurt.

Sounds like she might be non-receptive. Has she got a place in her cage to dig to lay eggs if need be?? I would wait a few days and try again.
