Blaptica Dubia Roach Set Ups

I have finally realized that I hate crickets. I will be slowly be adding dubia roaches to my chameleons' diets. I would like to hear about peoples' experiences with them and how to best care for them.

-Thanks

I think my only complaint about them is that once in a cage they just hide somewhere and never move, so the chams don't eat them. And then there's a roach hiding somewhere in the cage and that just drives me up a wall with my fear of roaches. So cupfeeding or hand/tweezerfeeding becomes a must, in my opinion. Otherwise they are super easy to house and feed off. I keep mine in a 105 qt plastic storage bin with large holes in the lid meshed over and lots of egg crates. And then I just feed them, and feed them off. So pretty easy!

How do you know they didn't like them?

My male would catch one, chew on it and sometimes spit it out and would watch the rest run around in the cup and would not attempt to eat them again. Those things, once you get them going, multiply like roaches!...ha!

I'll have to try and find out. That's funny that he would spit it out lol.

My cham has always loved dubias, recently he hasn't been wanting the superworms which i normally use but i gave him a few dubias today and he ate them right up. I just put a few smaller ones in a feeding tray and they can't climb out. When it comes down to it though, variety is the best.

I love roaches as a feeder! I usually hand feed them because yes once they are in the cage they won't come out till after dark.
