When I got her last night, I figured she would make a nice mate for my Male.

But when I set her up in sight of him today, she showed gravid colors already!

She's a pretty girl. Maybe she's just not receptive at the moment.

that's not gravid.

Gravid coloring is a black background with electric neon blue and yellow spots.

shes probably receptive now.

She turned very dark with spots when I showed her to the Male...

Then that's angry coloring, again not gravid.

if she were gravid, the coloring would be on her permanently.

Now, she could very well be gravid with infertiles, and they do not always change to the black background when gravid with infertiles.

However, you cannot assume she is gravid because she changed coloring around a male, that's either receptive coloring, or if she got angry, that's fired up (i.e. get away from me) coloring.

She looked like she matched the gravid coloring from the pics in the reference books I have.

The angry coloring can often mimic the gravid coloring, but then it goes away.
that's how you know its angry not gravid.
