Best Weed Ever

Many may not know that one of the most nutritional gut loads for crickets, roaches, silkworms, mealies, and supers is now available.

The cost is....... free. It is always fresh, never dry and crumbly, and most of us have it growing wild.

Dandelions, beautiful dandelions, go get some weeds, party on with your chams.

I couldn't agree more. I can't believe people see them as weeds. I have to admit though they do make my property look weedy if they go to seed. Besides being great to gutload insects with before being fed to our chameleons, dandelion greens and the flowers especially are great for feeding chuckwallas and desert iguanas, two of my favorite desert lizards.

Well weeds are a good staple feeder for most reptiles. But pesticides and if you treat your lawn isn't safe for any reptile. I feel safer and better to get them at the grocery store. But it's just the leaves not the yellow flower. Just to throw that out there. If you have pets and people I would rinse them good to in case spit or a dog pees on the weeds your using. That I learned from my beardies.

The only place I have found dandelion greens is at whole foods. I go there for most of my greens.

Da-- it we dont have a whle foods in Kingwood. All we have are Kroger or Randalls.

If you happen to be in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois or Indiana, you can usually get dandelion greens at Meijer. They regularly carry them ($1.29 a bunch here in northern KY) as well as other great gutload produce like endive, escarole, turnip greens, etc.
