Best fake vines?

Hey everyone! I’ve recently been looking for some fake vines to use alongside my branches and plants. I’ve seen bad stuff about all of them but I was wondering what you guys use or if you had another suggestion or idea. I want to use them as a place to climb and as a “highway” that allows my chameleon to climb to and from branches. Thanks in advance!

I found some dead grapevines locally. I bleached them for a day, then I spray cleaned them with water, I soaked them for an additional two days in plain water. I also let them sun dry. They worked perfectly and the bonus is that they were free!

Here's a close up picture of how a few of the vines look. 20200430_145540.jpg

Make your own... course rope from home depot, put gloves on or get a paint brush and rub silicone over entire surface, get coco fiber and mix it all over, let dry for 12 hours and you're good to go. Looks real and way cheaper

here’s how I have mine... keep in mind you can do a better job than me if you really want too.

IMO here are the bad thing about fake vines.....

They don't always dry out all the way. This leaves an area that grows bacteria that your chameleon is walking through not to mention wet surfaces that the chameleon is consistently holding on to. This can cause issues in the pads of the chams foot and even infections.

They are not easily cleaned the way a real branch or plant can be wiped off.

If they are made with things that the chameleon can chew off you risk impaction or rub their eyes on then pieces can get stuck in their eyes.

Things like rope should never be used because the cham can get nails stuck in them causing nails to break.

Right, this is what I was wanting to avoid. I also have a Pothos plant, where did you put it? Did you hang it on the dragon strand ledges or is it just on the floor?

Hung on the dragon strand ledge up high...

This is what you can do with mature pothos plants that have long vines. What I love about this plant is that the vines are strong enough to hold up to a mature male veiled. They have an intense grip strength. Take little zip ties to secure the vines to the branches making sure that they are not zipped too tightly and they are then able to hold the chams weight without issue. Weave them in and out of branches and around.

this is so smart, i will totally steal this idea, i have grapes all around me :)

Panther chameleons sometimes munch on branches...so unwound not use fake vines or branches that are toxic. Best to err on the side of caution.
