Beetle Info

Oh, and they sustain their selves! Just feed them and sit back... :p

Yeah, for sure not true w horns and silks. Require daily care and their dang chow is expensive. Oh and picking hornworm eggs off tomato plants everyday is a pain. I do prefer my roaches lol.

I know how your feeling... I'm not going to drop any names but... a few individuals better start being a little more appreciative:p.

I'm wanting to start a feeder group with some people on here were each person breeds one type of insect. We would just pitch in for the initial investment for all of the equipment and eggs/larvae. Then we could maintain a large variety of feeders without having to spend 10 hours a day cleaning and maintaining that many different insects.

I am doing that already. All of Montana is working on breeding different feeder - oops -!i forgot I am the whole state of Montana chameleon keepers.:(

lol. Keep up the good work! Montana needs and depends on you for their goods!! :p ;) :D

This is a genius Idea!!!

I know right!?!

Anyone want to give it a go, just PM me and we can talk and try to get a group going.

Would this be a bartering ring? If I send you 100 hissers you send me 1000 horn/silk eggs, etc?

For sure man! I think we can save each other so much money if we only have to maintain one insect colony each! We'd have to come up with reasonable trade values for each.

:( You can join my group :D

I currently have dubia and hissers. Working on walking sticks. Rachelle has me covered on horns/silks! :) What else can y'all bring to the table of interest?? :D

yes absolutely bean beetles are great for baby chams - but cant be the only feeder. also offer fruit flies, pin head crickets, terrestrial isopods, etc.

recuce Silkworm chow costs by feeding the silkworks other stuff up to half the time (like dandelion leaves, thin shaved carrot)

The bug group is a great plan. I am part of a group of friends who each raises a few types of bugs. I trade what I breed for stuff others breed, and vis versa. That way all our animals get a great variety, without each of us having to spend a million hours on bug care.

I would love for someone to volunteer taking on the daunting task of raising mantids. Too much effort for my liking. Any takers? :)

Ha! Yeah I got the WORMZ!

I have a ton of Egyptian mantids going, but to tell the truth I don't think I will breed them because the feeding cost seems disproportionate.
