Be sad with me

After years of research and a great opportunity i found my self with the time and means to hunt for feral jax on tues....to no avail.

The best part was my wife joining in, and needing no convincing to do so. thats a treat in it of itself. Some of you will understand how wonderful i felt that she understood how much it would mean to me to go out of our way to search for them.

she even waited in the car for about an hour after she was too tired to keep going. :D

be sad with me though because of course i found none, granted i was searching mid day in a place i had never been and had to pull teeth just to get the info i got.

I did how ever talk to some residents, some claimed to never have seen them while others said they hadnt seen as many around lately.

" i see all kinds of lizards....wall lizards, grass lizards but nothing that big...and with horns i would probably kill it????? "

i was very fortunate to be approached by a resident that inquired as to what i was doing ( mustve looked pretty strange staring up into trees for two hours ) i explained and he got this look on his face.... he took me to his yard and pointed out where a female was found just weeks ago. he advs he used to see them all the time all over, but not so much lately, and then he let me search his yard. After i found nothing he advs the best place to look and i thanked him and went on my way (i had searched there already but only briefly )

Now i know exactly where to look, next time ill have better timing and hopefully find and photograph.

I spotted this " chameleon " from across the street... ran over and was amazed/disapointed at how much the silhouette of these two leaves looked exactly like a chameleon perching horizontally

there is always next time

That does suck. When I finally make it over there, going out looking for them is one of the things I really want to do and that's discouraging. But, have you seen Mary Lovein's book? She's got Jackson's all over her yard and posts new pics frequently to the Chamtown list. At least we know they're still abundant over there somewhere.

Cnorton
i was searching in morro bay

beeze
thanks for the good wishes.

kent,

it was morro in so cal not hawaii so although it was a bummer, not as big a bummer i suppose as if it was hawaii.

a bummer none the less, but now i have a new book to get!

Ohhhhhh. I don't feel as sad now. LOL :D Mary takes some beautiful photos of her backyard Jackson's, glad I could point you to that book! It's a cool one to have out on the coffeetable!

Hmm...I don't really see it. Is it the leaf on the left of the horizontal branch?

If you need another pair of eyes...LMK!(I'm sure other Socal members would be interested also).

yeah im in brea too off lambert between tam. and brea blvd

i was passing morro on my way up to monterey county on business, so i didnt have that much time.

next time i go ill actually plan it out so i can search for a while.

we should get a group together.

can you imagine how jealous one of us would be of someone else finding one?

Count me in! I have been trying to make it to a location myself. I had to sniff around to get clued in, and before I could get the coordinates I was made to swear that if I went that anyone I was with, and myself, could only collect 1 cham to remove from the location period...including subsequent visits.

see thats whats awesome about my loc. the neighborhood doesnt care one way or the other about collecting. just trespassing.....lol

although one cham would have to do anyways because the pop has shown such a steady decline as of recent

to hell with development

can you imagine what it felt like to run over there and see a leaf????

that pic was taken by my palm centro phone...not to bad
