basking with his mouth open

so the past couple of days cooper has developed this habit of where when he is basking he slightly opens his mouth. just barely. is this normal or anything or should i go to the vet to get him checked out? pictures soon

Seems normal. Its their way of letting out excess heat. Just monitor it, but I wouldn't be alarmed.

he seems to only do it when hes 'in the zone'

Hes too lazy to move to the shade, so he engaged his built in air conditioner. If he turns really bright and starts scratching to get out, hes getting too over heated.
