She didn't lay her first clutch until she was 14 months old, so I misguidedly thought I was doing things right!
I kept my first cham at around 90 and fed her all she wanted (I now realise that this shortened her life somewhat). With the heat and abundance of food, she laid two massive infertile clutches - the first of 104 and the second of 102.
I do things very differently with Amy, being determined that she will not lay such large clutches, if any - although I think she is working on her first clutch at the moment. Her basking temp is in the low 80's and she digests her food just fine. I feed her one locust a day, with the occasional waxworm as a treat. She cut down her intake voluntarily at around 6 months old, and, unlike a lot of females, doesn't over eat. Somertimes she has silkwomrs if I can get them and she will eat the odd super (Morio) worm or cricket.
I know. I only had Lily for a year and was totally heartbroken and lost without her. She taught me so much and helped me get over my fear of locusts and crix, lol! I loved her so much and she was the friendliest girly-cham ever. She has been gone almost a year and I still miss her, even though I now have Amy and Tommy. Luckily Tommy is just like a male version of Lily! He came from the same breeder so there's a good chance that he is related to her too.
Keep an eye on your girl's temps and make sure that she is digesting her food ok. They need a certain amount of warmth to aid the digestion process.
Your story is very similar to mine! I visited the reptile shop for Nutrabol to make glider food with and fell in love with Lily. She was 6 months old then. I had so many doubts that I wouldn't be able to look after her properly - it all seemed so daunting back then! I am so glad I got her though - she was the most amazing girl - a lot like your Mia. It really is wonderful to have a friendly chameleon! Just this afternoon Tommy has been pestering to be let out all the time. I watched saw him go down to the bottom of his viv and headbutt the door to get attention! When he doesn't get what he wants he stomps back up to his top corner in a huff! Love him to bits, lol!
