Basking Light

Does the basking light have to be on when it is super hot outside? I keep the UVB on but the temp in the house is like high 80's so would that be ok?

if possible its best to have a basking option there even if its warm in the cage and outside.

I have turned off basking lights throughout days or not used any on some cages but it something chameleons do so it should be provided when possible.

What happens when you cham wants to cool down?

You set up a basking lamp in one part of the cage toward the top but leave the other part unheated. This sets up a temperature gradient so that they can move around to find an area with a temp they are comfortable with.
