J JackP308 Avid Member May 5, 2012 #2 if possible its best to have a basking option there even if its warm in the cage and outside. I have turned off basking lights throughout days or not used any on some cages but it something chameleons do so it should be provided when possible.

You set up a basking lamp in one part of the cage toward the top but leave the other part unheated. This sets up a temperature gradient so that they can move around to find an area with a temp they are comfortable with.
