Basking lamp schedule?

Hey! So Im a little confused, I for some reason had it in my head the uvb and heat lamp were 12 hours on, 12 hours off. Is this just for uvb?
Currently I've been turning everything on at 8am and then turning it all off at 8pm.

Have I been doing this wrong? yesterday I saw his mouth open and made a post about this, do you think his mouth was open because I've been leaving the basking light on for 12 hours? it gets to 81F at his back

So people are starting to lower the the times for basking because the thought process is they bask during morning and don't use it after but it is 100% fine if both are on 12 hours and then 12 hours off

Just make sure your temps are all where they need to be. In the winter my heat lamps are on all day long so I can maintain ambient temps my babies need, however in the summer they are only on for 30 minutes to an hour at most.

Make adjustments as you need for where you live.
