I need some advice regarding my almost 6 month old veiled Chameleon. Lately his colors have been mostly very dull. He has been active so I'm gonna give you my care info and any advice would be appreciated. Basically, I just need to know if I'm giving him the right care that he needs. I found this info sheet on another thread.

Chameleon Info:
My Chameleon - 5 Month old,Male, Veiled Chameleon
Handling - Almost every day i try to take him out or every other day
Feeding - 12-15 small/medium crickets. 4-5 mealworms every other day.

Supplements -Dust all the crickets and worms with Calcium. I use Calcium w/ D3 once a month

Watering - A Flukers Drip System drops through the top of his cage in to his bamboo plant. I mist him twice a day.

History - He was very active.Ive noticed he has been very dry or dull looking so I've been trying to mist more.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 24 x24x48 glass cage
Lighting -Terrarium 150 watt Daylight basking spot and one ExoTerra Repti Glo 26 watt Tropical Terrarium Lamp With uvb. Those are both on top of the cage.

Temperature - About 65-70 degrees in the cage.

Humidity - between 75-95 through out the day weither ive sprayed him for not.

Plants - Has fake vines, A ficus plant, mansanita sticks, and a small bamboo plant.

Placement - His cage is located on my dresser. The best place for him.

Location - California

Main purpose for writing- I've wondered if the way I raise him is why he may not be shedding. He has only shedded once and He is almost 6 months!

i would say from your description that he is about to shed.
also are you sure on the temps a 150w into a glass setup should be puttin out more than 65-70deg ( uless its way up ) i get 90deg with a 100w on a screen cage about 1inch above on a 45degree angle.
i would also concider a mutivitamin a few times a month and prob up the calcoum w/d3 to twice a month.
just a few ideas :)

Well im not completely sure about that watts the lights are!! Horrible to not know. But my Dad sends me everything!!!

No the top is screen!!! He likes to hang upside down on it under the heat lamp!! Lol...Ive noticed also he is showing some darker colors also.. Thats a good thing right?? Every one here says i have a dwarf chameleon cause he is almost 6 months and hasnt grown much!!!

I was just asking because UV does not pass through glass. You should try to raise the temp of the basking area to around 85. Chams need proper basking temps to help digest their food.

The basking area would be the 'hot spot' in the cage. Usually a vine or branch directly under the heat lamp. I think it should be about 8 inches below the top of the cage. I would measure the temp there and then adjust your heat lamp to get the proper temp. You can try to raise the lamp higher if it is too hot or use a higher wattage bulb if it's too cool. No need for a special heat lamp. You can use regular household bulbs.
