My male panther chameleon was born 4-25-10. I had him about a month now. I didnt think to weight him when I got him. But I just weight him tonight. He was 20.4 grams. Is this normal for his age. I feed him 1 to 2 silkworms a day. And 13 to 17 small/medium size crickets everyday. There is never any bugs left in his cage. He has them all gone within 2 hours or less after I put them in the cage.

Any opinions would help
Thanks

Help Please

So is my babies weight ok????? He was born 4-25-10 and I weighed him last night and he was 20.4 grams. This is the first time I weighed him. Is this good or thin?

Help Please

post a pic of him but it sounds ok. I am friends with another member on here and he has kept a great growth record of his panther. At around 4-5 months he weighed like 13 grams. So dont fret as long as he is eating and drinking. Some just grow at their own pace and some are just bigger or smaller than others. As long as he is healthy, that is the main thing.

Weight is not as important as many make it out to be. If he has nice round eyes and is eating well and has good angles on his joints he is probably doing just fine. If he continues to stay small he could just be a smaller chameleon but it does not hurt to have a fecal done to make sure he does not have parasites that could be robbing him of nutrition.

I cant upload pictures threw the forum for some reason. I was told because I am a junior member. But I see others doing it all the time. Photo bucket doesnt work.

Photobucket should work as that is what I use.

Click on the image in your photobucket album that you want to share. On the next screen that comes up on the left hand side there is a section called Share this image as pictured here:

This is a picture of ranger suning. I thought this shows his legs and weight good from the back. How does he look?

Thank you again:)

legs look good on angles but have any side view pictures? Are you certain it is a male?

I will try to find a good side picture. Well I hope he is a male. I got him from Screameleons. They said he was a male. Why you see somthing?

Did not see anything from the first picture and the second one it is hard to tell but there may be a bulge there indicating male. The weights are just more in line with a female is why I asked.

Another thing to check is make sure the scale is accurate. Weigh a measuring cup empty then add 1/2 cup (8 ounces) of water to the cup and subtract 170 from the weight and you should get the weight of the empty cup. 170 is what 8 ounces of water weighs in grams.

Ok. I will get my husband to check the scale tonight. Yeah, I have wondered if he was female too. Because Ive seen other peoples baby picture and they seem to have more color at the same age then mine does. I havent quite figured out what bulde im looking for. Im new at this.

Here is a side picture I took when he was outside. Its blurry. But you may be able to see if hes a male in this picture.

Ive got to learn to get better pictures:)

It does appear to be a male as best I can tell. Depending on the camera you are using you can pay attention to the focus points it is showing in the viewfinder or on screen. In that specific picture the focus point was the dog in the background. Some cameras also have a setting for MACRO shooting (Close Up) that when turned on forces the camera to focus on the closer subject. It is usually indicated by a Flower Icon in the menu or on a shooting mode selection wheel.

The hemipenal bulge is at the base of the tail past the vent but in small chameleons it my not be easily determined until they reach maturity. The best way to describe what most look for is the males tale will appear fatter and more in-line with the vent into the body where the female's will have a more slender look to it.

I think this is fine.
My three-month-old panthers are healthy and only up to 14grams. Yours is a month older, weighs an apporpriate amount more, and he looks fine.
