Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Baby Veiled Cham, female - "Okim". Got her exactly 1 wk ago.
Handling - every other day for a few minutes.
Feeding - Crickets (tiny- following the 'space between the eyes' rule). She eats 4-6/day. Feed 2x/day. Cricket powder. Gut Loading: Sweet potatos, leafy greens, Carrots, green squash, peaches.
Supplements - Dust w/ calcium daily & plan to add D3 & Vitamins 2x/wk (until older? then less often... is this right?)
Watering - Mist the cage/plants 2x/day. See her drink & eat often.
Fecal Description - brown w/ white.
History - got her from a local pet store. The cage there was overcrowded with babies. The store owners were not very knowledgable about Cham. care, so no idea how healthy she is.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Medium size starter cage, glass w/ screen top & small screen in front.
Lighting - ZooMed UVB, (the U shaped tube). Lights are on 9-9pm.
Temperature - 72-82F. Lowest overnight temp: 65F How do you measure these temps? ZooMed thermometer.
Humidity - 50-70% depending on when I mist. What do you use to measure humidity? ZooMed Humidity Reader. -- Somedays, when I mist it goes up to 100%, not sure if that's a problem. It's VERY humid in this city... I am careful to let the cage dry out before misting again. Thinking of adding ice cubes or a drip cup to the top of the cage.
Plants - plastic for now. Plenty of natural climbing branches.
Placement - Low traffic. On an eye level shelf. cage top at 5.5ft.
Location - Hong Kong
Current Problem -
Tiny pimple like bumps that fade & flatten into her skin. When flat, they are skin colored. When popping out, they turn rough/hard & a milky white color. I tried to get a good shot so you can see what it looks like. Most of them are on her sides, but there are one or two on her head as well?? Anyone know what this is??
We really hope we didn't buy a sick animal, please let us know if this is normal or a concern. And how should we help her... Also, if our care info needs to improve, we're happy to take advice on that too! Wanting to get it right so we can keep a happy & healthy Cham.
Also concerned about her wanting to climb to the cieling screen to be near the UVB light? Maybe she needs a warmer basking temp? Is it ok for her to be upside down & very close to that UVB bulb? I have tried to keep her down so far. ???
Thanks. -MJ
