Baby Setups

Hello everyone. Well after people worrying and going back and forth returning and buying lights from stores here are the baby setups. I know i could have just gone with cheaper fixtures but i went to home depot, lowes, and walmart and found nothing! It was horrible. So i just got the Zoomed fixtures and they have been working well for me. I use the 2 bins at the top from Jannb and as you can see there is light in both of them. Thanks Jann

What kind of bulbs do you have in those fixtures? How many babies to each bin? You need to raise the light up off of the bins.

How much uv is that old light putting out? You deffinately need to move the new one up off the bin and take the lid off the bin so the babies can get the uv.

To be honest i forgot how much it was putting out but i measured it this Monday at BocaJan's house and she got out her UV meter and di what she needed and said that it still had plenty in there. She may come over Monday and measure it again.

I measured it for him with my meter and it was still good. It will certainly last for 3 months. We live close and he can use my meter to check his lights any time. Stefan is doing a good job keeping those babies and as I said in earlier postings I am here to help him out.

Good job Stefan!

I use ReptiGlo and change them every 6 months - you cannot guarantee that the 'old' bulb is producing enough UV after 6 months of use already. Amy had her last bulb change at 7 months as the shop was out of stock and during the month after the 6 months Amy spent more time under the UV than she usually does - so this leads me to believe that they seek out UV and bask according to their needs. She was basking under it for longer as the output levels had dropped.

Thank you Naomi. And for anyone who doesnt think Naomi does a good job with her chams.....you are wrong. Not once have i heard of a chameleon she raised die on her from being sick. She ahs taken many sick chams and nursed them to health. Good job Naomi!

Thanks Jamncristian

Miss Lily, we will monitor that bulb with my meter. Reptiglo isn't my fav bulb either, but as long as it is producing properly it is fine.

Aren't those small white screen butterfly cages the best?! I love them for my hatchlings. Chamelisa sells them on her website www.ChamEO.org for a great price. It looks like they fit perfectly into the cube storage rack you have them in, I am going to have to go to Target and get one! Thanks for the idea :)

They butterfly cages rule. When some start getting a wee bit bigger they will go in there. Maybe 3 or 2 per a butterfly cage but of course the bins will still be needed.:D Glad you can use that rack heheh:)

Bump. How it looks now.

Hey everyone. I forgot to update this with pics of it now. Here is how it looks and for anyone that thinks the bins near the window will get to hot..the blinds are never really open and if they are only a bit and the babies dont get any heat from it i can assure you.

The one at the very end will not be getting as much UVB as the others. UVB output is weaker at the ends.

I am curious, how many feeders do you have escape each feeding without lids on them? That is what mine looked like in the beginning, but I couldnt find a way to stop the feeders from escaping!

Well I keep my babies in bins like that.
For crickets they cant escape because the bin is smooth plastic.

For flightless fruit flies Ive had people say that SMOOTH packaging tape works :)
You just tape around a even line about 3-4inches from the top and the flies cant climb it
