Ive had my female veiled for almost a year. She's my first chameleon & im always trying to make sure I'm doing what's best for her; I'm constantly researching & reading about them. I'm away at college now so she is living with my boyfriend, who knows how to care for her & does so very well. I also come back every weekend so I see her often. She's timid but I can coax her out with food & hold her. As far as food, cage, & all that I'm pretty sure I'm doing all the right things. (& I've discovered she loves our Maine blueberries). She's sexually mature & has been for a while. ive done all I can as far as preparing myself for when she lays eggs & im just paranoid because she hasn't yet. I'm afraid I'm missing signs or something. She hasn't tried to get in the bin that I know of. Is there any time length after they become mature that they should be laying? Any advice for a first time owner would be good, always wanting to learn more. Thanks in advance !

if she is showing unusual colors such as darker skin color or blue and orangeish yellow spots, this means she is probably in the process of becoming gravid with eggs. i personally have just finished dealing with my girls first clutch of eggs and i will tell you don't be paranoid like i was. her stomach will become noticeably larger and rounder and this is how you know she is ready. make sure she has plenty of water and privacy and space to dig her eggs when it comes time. from the first day i noticed gravid colors, it took about a month for my girl to finally lay her eggs so don't be worried if she doesn't do it right away. :) hope this helps

I have read that a veild can be almost 2 years old before they can start to lay. But I do believe this is pretty rare, my Cham is maybe 8 months and has reseptive(think that is the right word) colors, she will lay her first clutch soon. Just keep your eyes out for the colors and on the rare cases where color changes are to small to notice she will be noticeably wider. Good Luck.

The colors are definitely there & she's had them for a while. Some days she has a bigger belly & im sure she's ready to lay, others she looks a bit smaller. Then I'm not sure. I hate being away & not able to see her everyday. Thank you both for the advice, I'm sure she'll be just fine c:
