A lot of people use a small plastic container with a paper towel in the bottom, and a few small aquarium plans for them to lick water off of.
As far as increasing mortality rate, you could make sure that they stay hydrated by frequent mistings, and consider splitting them up in to two groups.

Congrats on the babies! what a surprise!
To warn you, ovoviviparous chameleons have a rather high mortality rate, they are simply not as strong as other chameleons when they are born. Even people who breed Jackson's chameleons often will lose babies, try not to be upset- it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong! The babies are very sensitive, it seems that the temperatures are what you have to watch most closely- my best advice is don't let them get too hot!

Like they said dont let them get to hot. I think around 70ish is good for newborn jacksons. Also very high humidity. All babies require high humidity and cooler temps but montane species require this through adulthood so I would think it would be even more important. I would try searching on the forums or the web. I am sure there is something that can point you into the right direction if you already havent been pointed there. Sorry, not much help. My first cham was a jacksons but I never had the urge to breed them so i havent researched that aspect of them much.

Lance - Congrats on the new babies - I have rudis babies right now - Also Montane chams and live born - I have 21 babies & they are a little over 2 months old right now. I have them in an aquarium which is good for humidity. I mist them about 6 or 7 times a day to keep them hydrated and to keep the humidity up. Just make sure not to let too much water build up on the bottom of the tank. Fruit flies and pin head crickets have been the main feeders - watch your temps!!!!!!! Don't let the babies get to hot. I only have a 5.0 flourescent light on them - no heat lamp at all. Keep room temps around 72 - 74. Good luck and keep us informed & pictures please!

Vince, CONGRATS! I'll bet you didn't expect that! Very exciting. Baby Jacksonii require a lot of care and do tend to have a rather high mortality rate unfortunately. But I'm sure you will do all you can and do just fine!
With that being said, and I've got to ask this : you aren't keeping your Jackson's in the typical Petsmart setup of a glass tank with night bulbs and all that junk, are you? The big name pet stores tend to give their customers terrible advice about their new pets, and especially chameleons since chams require such specific care. But that is what we are here for, so please ask questions! We're all happy to help.
