Automated mister...

theres a thread about it.. I was so close to ordering the habba last night but thank god I did some research. They are horrible. Had a lot of bad reviews.

Yeah I look at it, still kind of pricey to me. $100+ I was thinking about rigging one up.

-use a powerhead... Like the one for fish, or seen on tera waterfall that small power head. Put the power head in a bucket with water.set it on low.

-hook it up with a tube that goes inside the cage and poke some needle size hole on the tube. this is where the water will shoot out creating a mist like?

-Set a timer outlet on the powerhead so it turns on and off.

So yeah thats just an idea.. good or bad I really don't know.. Haven't tried it yet :p

There's a thread in here somewhere explaining why that wouldn't work. I think it needs a higher psi. I have the herpmist and a hydor attached to it and it works nicely. My chams love it now that it has a heater.

I think the pump I have has a 110 psi.

I have a herpmist and it is the best investment I could have made. I think by the time you spend the money on a thrown together system and figure out its not what you want you could save and buy one of the systems mentioned.

What I am sure of is that it is an amazing sstem. You can run a lot of nozels off the systems so it would be expandable.

Yes, I totally agree. It's a great investment especially if you plan on getting more chams.

If you only have one and it's a veiled I don't think it needs a misting system though.

I used to have one cham, a dripper and would just spray him 2x a day and it worked out fine.

I use the Habba mister for my veiled. I like it, it gives me piece of mind when i'm gona all day that he's getting some water/ It is noisy, but my cham doesn't care, he doesn't notice it at all. I like it for assurance, but not at all is it a decent mister

spend the money and go with MIST KING!! the product and service is unbeatable.. Marty went above and beyond to make sure i was 100% satisfied..i highly recommend mist king...

Powerheads will not work. They're designed to move lots of water with no back pressure. That's not what you need for misting, at all. In fact, it's exactly the opposite.

The HabbaSpit just spits out water; it doesn't produce a "mist" at all. It's a cheap product and you certainly get all of the quality of a $38 wholesale item. They probably have about $6 invested in the pump on that thing and it shows. The problem with buying one "just for now" is that $60 is a big chunk of a real misting system!

As a matter of fact, I just released the One Cage Special. It's everything you need except a reservoir to mist a single cage, including a timer and screen cage adapter, for $140.

It's not cheap, but cheap is not the way you want to go when high pressure water is involved!

herpmist owner here and love it!!! watering systems in apartment is nothing to take lightley in my opinion. last thing i need is to come home to a soaked bedroom from a jerry rigged setup.(not to mention my landlord taking my deposit:mad:). just fill the resevoir and forget about it for a few weeks, cant beat it. and i wouldnt be able to stand having a loud pump in my bedroom while im sleeping, the lights are enough of a eye opener.

i tried the dripper and the bowl with moving water- he stayed away from both
. i spray him 2x a day and he drinks from the nozzle when i drip i on his nose- but sometimes - can only spray him once and i feel horrible!!!! so i just wanted to see if i had a way to insure he got his water...
