So I took Apollo, my panther, in for his first vet visit today. I was planning on getting a fecal done and had called in ahead of time to make sure the Vet was chameleon savvy. She said she was and had seen quite a few before, so I booked an appointment.
I took him in she looked him over, told me to put a carpet on the bottom of his cage so I wouldn't have to clean it as much and said he needed to eat more. I then asked her if she could tell the gender of Apollo since I was unsure. She said at that age you couldn't really tell but she didn't see any spurs so she thought it was a female. Needless to say, I will not be returning and decided not to have a fecal done by her.
The one thing that was concerning me was his weight. She said he was 5 grams and should weigh more so I should feed him more. I put about 11 feeders in a few different cups (since he is in a large cage) to make it easier to find them. He eats between 6-8 feeders every day.
I was just wondering if 5 grams at 3.5 months was more of a slow growing male weight, or more of a female weight? I've heard of some males being closer to 11 grams at this age... He is about 2.5-2.75 inches snout to vent.
