Hey all I have been keeping Pepper Roaches and Wide Horn Hissers and they are just awesome as pets and feeders anyone else keeping these? Right now I have mine set up like the dubias but the pepper roaches need Eco earth on the bottom of there bins. And the wide horn hissers have to have a tight fitting lid because they can climb ...... If anyone else is keeping these let me know I would like to hear about your set ups and how well yours breed my peppers only give birth 2 times a year but they I swear must be the biggest fatest roach alive lol and my parsons loves them. The wide horn hissers breed about half the speed of dubias but get to 4in. And make that awesome hissing noise.

I just started getting into keeping pet roaches. I don't have those species, but I have started with a few others. I really like my Halloween hissers.

I love roaches, they fascinate me! I seem to be the only one in my house and my mum wasnt too pleased when I bought them downstairs to give them thier fruit and veg!. I love breeding them and have only recently got into them again after sadly killing my 200+ colony with a toxic glue last year! Hopefully once breeding kickstarts I will have a nice colony to feed the chams and geckos from.

Has anyone else keap any cool feeder/ pet roaches? I just like to know what is out there maybe there is something I need to get lol. One cool thing about the pepper roaches is they don't climb ,fly and they are like 5in. Long and 2 wide and very soft bodied ..

Is there another name for the pepper roach? I'm trying to google it and keep getting a man named Pepper Roach... :/

Ah, thanks! I currently have dubia and some hissers (some look wide horned and some look flatter?)

How you can tell with the hissers if they are wide horn species or not is they are dark red and the males are 4 in. If the male is not that big that they a Madagascar hissers ....I just found out the other day that there are 10 species of hissers lol.

What do you keep your hissers inn? I am freaked out mine will get out I have them in a tub taped up and I have to un tape it evertime I need to get in there lol. I have the no climb stuff around the edge of the bin from arron pauling but it still makes me think they are going to get out I think I am going to get a locking tub for them.

I like them a lot. I have been waiting for the female to give me babies, but with no luck yet.

Lol with hissers you have to get them hot and humid .... 90 to 95 degrees and put two good size water crystal bowls in there for the humidity.... They will drop there egg sacks they hold inside of them if the air is to dry

Yeah I know I have been warming all of the roach enclosures with a ceramic heater, but they have been averaging at only around 80F or so. I hope that now since the house is warmer I can keep them warmer.

I picked up 3 females and one male hisser at a local shop in March. I didn't want to fuss too much with them so I just chucked them in with my dubias. They have been breeding well and both species seem to tolerate each other well. I don't know what kind of hissers they are, but they are BIG. Some of the first nymphs are starting their final molts to adult. I just saw the first new male yesterday.:D I love how much fatter and juicier they are than dubias.
