She will just sit on my hand and look at me like uhmm why are you holding my food ?Trying to find a way to get my Cham to hand feed . She is super comfy with me and likes to be out but won't accept food if I'm holding it .even if it's right in front of her face flailing around. She only wants if it's in her cage and if it's running around freely .
Yeap I've tried every kind of feeder . She is just very shy when it comes to eating food outside her enclosureHave you tried using treat bugs?
Tried em nope.s.u.p.e.r.w.o.r.m.s.
They won't all do it, some are puppies and for some, they will go for blood. Looks like yours is in between!Yeap I've tried every kind of feeder . She is just very shy when it comes to eating food outside her enclosure
Lol I know she is a puppy with me . She comes running to crawl on me when I open her cage or when I have the mist bottle . But as far as food she just is very strange and iffy when I present it to her. I think she may have gotten a bite from a hornworm or super worm a few weeks ago and might be why she is so shy now if it's anything but crickets .I've started squishing their heads right before I throw them in her cage and she goes right for them but if they are alive she will run away from them or hiss at me if I put one anywhere near her .They won't all do it, some are puppies and for some, they will go for blood. Looks like yours is in between!
I think once mine gets alittle bigger she will have alittle more confidence with food . She's probably around 4 months maybe less. She does love food too. I mean when I fill her feeder cup with food she goes ravenous but she isn't very motivated by it and honestly likes the mist bottle and her cage being open.or getting to climb on me for a bit while I'm chilling . She is honestly surprisingly chill for a veiled .before I got one (this is my first) I heard they had bad temperaments and hated being handled . Seems very wrong in my case. But I also did handle her right of the bat when I first got her. So she got comfy with me pretty young which is what I wanted anyways . She is stupid amounts of active . She moves around all day and has rarely ever hissed at me. But she has had one little noise she has made since I got her and I think I'ma take her to the vet . It my be a respiratory issue . She does it about once every other day and it's just alittle squeek. No excess liquid in her mouth or bubbles . Nose is fine .but I still wanna get it checked outSome chameleons are more food motivated than others. Similarly to dogs or people for that matter. Some chams are more motivated by getting to go outside or on a free range.
I got her from PetSmart and they keep like 6 of the babies in a small shallow glass tank that is like sobing wet so I hope she doesnt have oneI think once mine gets alittle bigger she will have alittle more confidence with food . I'll try that thanks !I place a silkworm on the back of my hand (keeping hand in a fist to hide my fingers) and slowly offer it and they always take it. If I put it in my palm or hold in my fingers and try, they won’t take it.
My Cham is currently being a goon and shooting her tongue out at her water dripper and just hitting the water droplets with her tongue .is that normal lol? Or is she just being lazy and not wanting to climb over there to drinkI'll try that thanks !
Thats normalMy Cham is currently being a goon and shooting her tongue out at her water dripper and just hitting the water droplets with her tongue .is that normal lol? Or is she just being lazy and not wanting to climb over there to drink
Cool was just checking lol I've never seen her do it before .I rarely ever see her drink but ik she does when I'm not homeThats normal
My Cham is already comfy with me that's the issue . She comes out all the time and literally waits by the door in the morning when I open her cage to mist and reaches for my hands and likes exploring my room and the plants I have in here . The problem is she won't eat it unless it's roaming free in her cage. She can be on my arms from her choice wanting to come out and just isn't interested in food if I have it. She just wants it in her cage . Handling her is easy peazy she's not shy with me at all .Since I've gotten her she has hissed at me once and that was because I was trying to get her to eat different feeders than crickets and I had a super worm in my hand that she had never seen before. She hissed at me and at it until I took it out of the enclosure . I think I'ma just let it be . She's not interested in it so I may as well just leave it the way it is .Stand there very still eventually she will....it could take an hour....grab a chair, get comfy, once she does eat from your hand she will trust you, you have to move slowly, chams don't like sudden movements or bright shirts, seriously, wear a grey, blue...any neutral color..... ps, sometimes it takes longer than an hour...
