K, heres the sticky:
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage construction (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
6' x 4' x 3'...wooden with screen.
Lighting - What brand, model, and type of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Reptiglo 10.0 uvb 2 foot linear tube with a 60W basking bulb in a corner. Lights are 12 hours on/off.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
I have a digital max/min thermometer/hygrometer that I use around his enclosure. His basking spot is 88-94F and lower levels 10-15 cooler.
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
50-60%, natural ghastly summer humidity. mist spray multiple times a day.
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Mostly Pothos...he ravages them! A few others, he only eats the pothos, though.
Location - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
In my room, low traffic. I have a fan in my room(a floor stand one)but it is not directed at my chams. It runs 24/7. He 6 feet off the ground when hes basking.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Veiled, male...about 6 months I'd say....got him from a pet store a couple of months ago. He has tripled in size and is gargantuan compared to his brothers and sister still at the store...poor lil buggers.
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Every day. He comes out to see me whenever I open his door!
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? I feed him 10-15 small crickets a day. I gutload with all kinds of fruits and veggies and the calcium plus cricket food. I also give superworms and silkworms, less crickets on those days. He is always hungry though...I am trying hard not to overfeed!
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
I have been using the calcium with D3 and herptivite twice a week, but cut it down to every saturday.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
I mist often many times in the day, and have a dripper. I spray till I see him drink every day. He hates being sprayed though, and runs like crazy from the spray bottle!
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
No to parasite testing. Poops like a champion.
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Friggin nose crust.
Current Problem - The current problem that you are concerned about.
He keeps getting white nose crust. I have been using the search function like crazy, and it seems like its over supplementation...but if I cut him out any more, he wont get any! I dust very lightly, just a pinch, and for two weeks now I just give only on the weekend. Thats it. Shouldnt he be getting more? Or is it maybe Im giving too much to the crickets? I feel like I should be giving just calcium to his supp schedule, but I keep seeing the crusties and dont want to over do it!
Thanks for your help,
DJ
