Ambanja going orange

Hey all it seems my male ambanja is deciding to go orange.

Its difficult to try get him to fire up. But sometimes he will fire up randomly at me.

I cant believe how much his colours have changed over just 1 month, his oranges are insane.
It looks like the orange starts at the head and tip of the tail and looks like its coming together in the middle, I hope he really does have an orange body as I love it.

This is him a maybe a month and a half ago.

Are you positive thats an ambanja. He looks like an ambilobe. Hes a real looker. Ive just never seen an ambanja with that coloration before.

Just curious, are you basing that off of color alone? I'm not very good at figuring out locales by physical things other than color, so if you are it'd be cool to know what looks more ambilobe than ambanja. :)

Hey yeah he is definetely ambanja.

I can try get a pic of his dad.

I thought some people might have called him ambilobe, but him and his brothers differ so much! He looks more like his dad than any of his brothers do except my boys colours are more intense than his dads.

Heres a brother of his. Has alot more red than mine, I suspect mine to be orange wherever this guy is red. I dont think you get ambilobes like this anyway.

I was wondering if he had been sold to you as an "ambanja". But you know his lineage so forget my previous post. You have a very unique banja there. I hope you try to breed him some day. It would be something if you could pass those colors down. Good luck with him.

And pssh i was just going by coloration more than anything on this young guy. I thought the op may have been sold an ambi and told he was banja.

I hate to speculate, but this cham here looks like a cross not an ambanja. Maybe an ambanja cross. I think that this cham has some nosy be in him. Generally with an ambanja you will get red spotting in the barring if there is any red at all. You can get some around the face etc, but not in the pattern your cham is showing. The shape of the head, and rostrum are not indicative of an animal from the ambanja area either.
todnedo has an ambanja with tons of orange just like that. And his is for sure 100% ambanja. That's a sweet ambanja.

Justin

Actually he's mine, and I believe he is the only one out of the whole clutch who has the yellow background.

See ya,

Todd

Todd he does sometimes have spots in his barring that looks like black from far but close up is purple. He is only that colour when I take him out and hold him, otherwise in his cage he is dark green with lighter green bars with slight orange stripes in his face, and remember he is only about 6 months so he is still to change and all you know.

He was sold as ambanja so Im just going with ambanja.

Oh and you can see red spots in light blue on the ridge of his back similar to you male Todd, I think wait and see for the red dots to appear in his barring as he is still only 6 months old.

And he from what I know out of all the batches is the only one that has got this much orange in him.
