Am I seeing the start of receptive colors 🫢

How’s her wrist doing? Am I imagining it, or has the swelling gone down some? Is she showing signs of favoring it at all?
What is it about these lovely girls that hiss and try to bite us, that we just adore them regardless.

I really want to say yes to the swelling going down but I’m not sure. She has a vet appointment this next Wednesday for bloodwork and a checkup.

Alright she has been weighed today! Within the last week Nachito has gained almost 4 grams and is now 98.2g! We can also see some more colors making their way into her scales!

Nachito is going to be even more beautiful! As she gets a bit older those colors will really brighten up. Aww…so exciting!

I was wondering could anyone go over if I have everything good for Nachito laying?


Here’s the lay box I’m using

And it has play sand in it

There’s also a plant pot next to it that’s pretty large


-Her basking temps are around 78-80
-Lights are on at a constant 7am-7pm schedule
-She gets fed 4-5 small bugs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
-Variety includes silkworms, dubia roaches, hornworms, bsfl and sometimes waxworms
-supplements are calcium without d3 every day except 2 times a month when I do reptivite with d3
-She has a heat lamp and uvb light
-her misting system does off for 3-4 minutes in the morning when lights come on and at night before lights turn off, it also does off a few times during the night to try and keep humidity up.

Am I missing anything?

I think you’ve done a great job! The only think I would add is:

- The lay bin you typically want 50/50 play sand and an organic dirt mix
- make sure the substrate is wet enough that you can dig a tunnel with your hand and the tunnel holds
- make sure there are plenty of sticks leading into her lay bin so she can access it easily.

All looks and sounds great to me. I’ve used both 100% play sand and 50/50 sand and soil and my girls had no preference either way. I think the 50/50 mix makes it a bit easier for them to dig in though.
Don’t forget to be ready to cover up the lower half of the enclosure as soon as you see her digging. I get it all ready well ahead of time so all I have to do is pull the sheet and pin in place.

Also I have another question . Should I weigh her today? I feel like she may be getting close to laying but no activity yet. Would it be safe to take Nachito out and weight her?

IMHO…it’s best to not disturb them any more than necessary when they are getting near laying eggs. They need to concentrate on their “job”.

I would say the same as @kinyonga
As long as you have a weight when she got receptive and one during her gravid period, then you have a reference after she laid eggs.

Here she is sleeping tonight, such a weird flattened position she’s gotten herself into.

Also here is a fun little photo from her cam today. Not really sure what she was up to, tho she did shoot her tongue at something on the top of her cage. Such a funky girl.

Oh my gosh I literally love her so much! That can’t have been a comfortable sleeping position and what is she doing in the camera??? Hahahaha. Such personality. I love it!
