Always dark

Hey so I have a veiled chameleon hes around 6 months old. But I'm concerned because hes always a dark color, yet he turns a way brighter color when he crawls onto my arm. Anyone have any ideas why?

Also I just put him into a new enclosure yesterday so I know that might add to it but he was always dark in his old one too. And i am working on trying to find a plant for the middle for more foilage.

Yeah hes always like that color even if like noones in the room

You need way more branches & vines for him. How far away is basking area from the light?

You need branches for him... Right now with the way that is set up he is not getting any UVB. If you are running a T5HO fixture with a 5.0 bulb you want to have basking 9 inches below and if your running a 10.0 uvb bulb you want it to be 12 inches below. The UVB light is different then what you visually see. UVB need to run across the middle of the cage not off to one side.
