All 40 Hatched! 100% hatch rate

I will have to weigh mine to help you out. I adopted a 1wk old veiled cham from a show two weeks ago. He will be 3wks old this sat. I will put him on the digital scall on sat and get a weight. Mine slept off and on during the day for the first two weeks. This week he is 99% active only stopping to bask. My only problem is trying to get him to drink. Have you seen your little ones drink yet?

Yeah, once I mist them they start drinking right away from the leaves and the little links in the vine. They are very good drinkers. Every time the tank dries I mist them. I can't wait to see how much your little guy weighs to compare mine to him.

How did you adopt a 1 week old? I thought that most people raised them up to 2 months until they sold them.

Well today I think I can see a difference. The first few days the chameleons skin was really wrinkly and pretty skinny but now they are really full and plump. Looks like they are growing some but it is hard for me to tell still because I see them everyday for so much time. All still going strong, I occasionally see the sleeper with its eyes closed. Last only a few minutes and then he starts moving with eyes wide open. I think they are just tired sometimes, I don't think there is anything wrong with their eyes.

When I mist them sometimes 1 or 2 of them will rub their eyes against the branches, what is the deal with that? They do it kind of rough probably about 3 times and then they stop. Not all of them do it just 1 or 2 almost every time I mist.

Here are 3 pics pics of him when i brought him home (2eating and one sun bathing) and one when he hit the 2wk mark.
There were two of these week old little guys for sale at a local sale, which amazed me too that they would be sold so young. I always enjoy a challenge though. So far getting him to drink is the only problem. I keep giving him misting showers to keep him hydrated because he either doesn't drink or he is shy about it. He is gaining wieght nicely though. When i first brought him home (1st 3 pics) he was really really skinny and very dehydrated. He is coming along slowly.:)

Mine does the exact same eye rub after misting almost like he is trying to remove his eye then afterwards he starts bulging it and rolling it around. I think its all cleaning.

All of them are still alive and kickin. They are eating like crazy!!:):D:):D

My internet at home is down right now so I have not been able to log on and post some new pictures of them yet. None of them went through a shed yet, but I am sure it will be soon because they are eating good and it looks like they are getting bigger. It is hard for me to tell because I see them everyday but other people say they are getting bigger. All of them are drinking well and look very healthy. I will post some new pics as soon as my comcast is fixed.

Curious question- One of them the other day went into the fetal position. Another chameleon was close to him and he balled up like he was still in the egg, turned dark brown, and fell from his branch (he was only about 3 inches from the ground, so it wasn't thaty big of a fall). He stayed like this for a few minutes until he felt safe and he started walking around and turned back to green. Is this just because he was stressed out from the other chameleon or should I keep a close eye on them if they do this?

Comcast makes me mad, I was able to post a pic for the contest because I couldn't log on.

I weighed them yesterday and the average of 12 chameleons were 1.4 grams. They gained .3 grams since last week. They are all looking great. Today I am going to take pictures of them and post them to show the change in size.

yea i'd sort him out with the smallest of the pack for sure

what are you talking about? I think you might need to reread my post. None of them weight less then 1.2 grams. The average last week was 1.1 grams, the average this week is 1.4 grams. That means that the average went up .3 grams.

Hey ... Congrats on all your babies. You've taken some great pictures of them. Have you been feeding anything else besides small crickets?

I have 26 veiled eggs that were laid on Oct. 3rd that I'm hoping will hatch within the next month or so. I have 18 in a DIY incubator and 8 in a margarine container with substrate and small holes. I want to see if it makes a difference in their hatching times / sizes. I also have 57 veiled eggs that were laid by my other female about a month ago. They are all in margarine style containers with holes as well.

So seeing your success has me anxious about my eggs and I would like to hear more about the setup for your hatchlings. Any details you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks ... Dyesub Dave. :D

I only have been feeding them 1/4" crickets so far and they are eating them like crazy, I probably go through about 400 a day!!

For the hatchlings I am keeping them in 18 gallon rubbermaid roughneck totes. They work great. I went to Michael's and bought tiny sticks and some vines to place in there. There are plenty of hiding places and plenty of space to be on a branch soaking up some heat. I have the uvb light that sits on top of the tote, the heat lamps clamp onto the side (100 watt bulb, bring the temp up to 81F for me). I like the rubbermaids better than glass tanks because for the glass tanks they like to climb on the walls because they can see out, this doesn't happen with the totes. Glass- you need to put paper towels down on the bottom so they can see food and whatever. The totes have a solid bottom so they can see everything easy. Cleaning them is easier because they are much lighter than glass and not as fragile. Also, they are much cheaper than 10 gallon tanks. I mist them 3-4 times a day, and feed them 2 times a day.

If you want to know more about anything in specific shoot me a pm and I will be glad to help.

Oh! What a difference! I was wondering what happen to those little babies. I guess you bought these two! They are a gorgeous pair! Jann
