Age for feeding Panther

What do most people feed their four month panther chameleons? Just crickets or can they feed them other treats and foods?

You can feed it everything that is as big or smaller than the spacing between the chameleons eyes. That is a safe general rule to follow in feeding chameleons.

Dubia roaches, locusts, silkworms, phoenix worms, and superworms the correct size will all be great to feed your chameleon.

Actually, I'd like to know something here.

I know the general rule of thumb is no feeder larger than the space between the Chameleons eyes, but does this mean the length of the feeder or the width? I've seen plenty of videos etc. of Chameleons eating prey that are longer than the space between the eyes, but never one wider unless it's a vertebrate.

Main reason I ask is because when George decided he wanted bigger food, he really did want bigger food and his food is about the width (A little thinner) of that space between his eyes, no longer than his head though. He chews it all up and hasn't had problems pooping, so I suspect it is width, not length.

I look at width rather then lenth. To be honest I feed slightly smaller feeders in general just to be on the safe side and have not had any problems. I think of videos where you see adult panthers eating a preying mantis, obviously the mantis is pretty lengthy!

Yeah I'm glad someone else goes for width. George loved his Locusts when he was smaller, but he just stopped eating them as he grew and I found out he just wanted them larger, he chows down on them again now. Although luckily I've heard Locusts are quite meaty anyway, so slightly larger is probably a little safer than with insects with lots of chitin like Roaches and Crickets. Still feed him roaches, they're at a good size now for feeding.

I think just offering some different feeders is great for their diet and isn't so boring. When you've little babies though it's a lot more difficult finding size appropriate food that doesn't eat through your wallet!! But yes, I definitely go on width between the eyes.
