Advice Please!!

Rinse every plant off and make sure you replant it in ORGANIC potting soil with no fertilizer or anything. You want to wash down the roots and everything real good to get off pesticides and anything the place you bought it from may have left on it.

 WOOOAH! Info overload! But in a really really really good way, thank you so much for that info! I'm definitely going to do this- her lights are turning off right.... NOW. :) I'm doing this all wrong!! :(

Don't feel bad, it happens all too often that people get the wrong info :) I was doing it wrong for the first month too but this forum has saved my butt in many occasions :)

She looks like my first girl when I got her 3 years ago. She had a double eye infection, she didn't make it =( Looks like maybe you could catch this early though and if it is indeed shed stuck inside her eyes, get some PLAIN saline solution eye rinse and rinse her eyes very well. You want to get it right in there and they will puff up with the solution when you do that's how you know it's there, then she can swish her eyes around and rinse them. As well as many mistings with the water like Eliza said.

Here is one of my OLD posts about Molly and a picture: https://www.chameleonforums.com/major-problem-31782/

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your loss, this link does look exactly like my Calypso's eyes. :( I took her outside today after a spraying session for about 10-15 min. She also ate a dusted cricket this morning & drank lots of water! I turned her light off last night as instructed so I'm hoping we'll start seeing some better results! The saline doesn't hurt the chams eyes further?

How long after you realized she had a double eye infection did she last? I'm afraid Calypso has been like this since before I received her.

Hi!

As AngieL said, you need a better supplement schedule. Rep-Cal makes separate supplements--No D3, with D3, and a multivitamin. Feed NO D3 every feeding, WITH D3 twice a month, and multivitamin twice a month.

She also needs a proper lighting schedule. She needs a daytime schedule, like 8am-8pm, or 9am-9pm, etc. (You can make it easier by buying a light timer, to turn on and off the lights automatically.) Try to feed her one or two crickets every day. Mist heavily as others have said... she is shedding and with the eye problem she definitely needs it.

Thank you! I need to get the Rep-Cal without the D3... along with a pathos and drip system. Those are the next 3 items on my list for the time being. She's eaten 2 crickets today so I'm very happy to see her eating. I used a styrofoam cup and poked a small hole in the bottom with some warm water slowly dripping over some of her fake leaves. She seemed to be enjoying her basking spot earlier today now she's hanging out on the upper level but out of the light. I took her outside for 10-15 minutes today to enjoy the sun before it started storming and she opened her right eye more! YAY! Hopefully she'll keep progressing

I'm glad she's starting to show signs of improvement :) natural sun is fantastic for chams, do it as often as you can. Just make sure she has the option of shade when she's out.

She had the infection since before I got her as well, she was a rescue from petsmart. I was able to keep her going for 8 months but she just kind of gave up =\ She was a good girl though. The saline, as long as it is PLAIN and for eyes will not hurt them. You get it in a large bottle, I got mine at target. It may say sensitive eyes on it, those will be the ones without the protein remover or the antibacterial. You will find it in the contact lens section.

I thought I'd posted this...

Lighting - Repti-Glo 26w 5.0 compact w/ some sort of blue bulb (received that from my friend). My friend did have a much smaller UVB bulb when I received Calypso. I read some info online & bought the one I mentioned. I leave the UVB on 10-12 a day, and turn it off but leave the blue light on when I sleep (average of 4-7 hrs). She's near my window with some indirect sunlight.

As noted, you should turn off all lights at night. In place of the blue bulb I would recommend a regular household incandescent (the kind you can buy at the grocery store).

Temperature - 75F-80F at night & 84F-90F during the day (10-12 hrs)

Where are you measuring this? Regardless, it seems warm, especially for a female. Try raising the light higher off the cage. What you want is a branch about 6 to 8 inches below the light to be around 84 degrees with the lights on. Ideally, the bottom of the cage would be room temperature. If not, raise the light more. Don't worry about it if the basking temp gets down to 80, that's fine. Some people don't even use basking lights for their females. You want the bottom of the cage to be room temperature. She needs to be able to go down to the bottom to get away from the heat.

Ideally at night the cage would go down into the mid to low 60s.

Thank you Angie! I'm glad too- She hasn't eaten today, but we did go outside for a bit together. She's being more active now so, hopefully she'll eat soon! Do you guys usually put your chams on a small tree or something? I just let her stand on my fingers and she loves basking.

Awww, that's too bad :( Well again, I'm sorry about your loss. I'll definitely give this a try, thanks for the info.
