so i plan on taking my 7 month old panther outside like every three days in the summer and late spring. he just sits in a hibiscuse in the middle of my front yard with me sitting next to him....after 10 mins outside yesterday he finnaly started to move to the top of his bush...he is comeing out of his cage a liitle easier now. before he hissed and bite and flew at you to defend him self...but now he just walks away and i grab him with mabey only one or two hisses.

so my question is, will taking him out of his cage every otherday or every 3 days be to stress ful? i know i can make an outdoor cage for him...but it just seems like there are alot of riskd, like animals, dumb kids, and weather.

so is this too much strees for him?

Be careful "grabing him". Try just leaving his cage door open and at a distance watch him and see if he'll come out on his own. If you sit a tree in front of his open door be might climb out onto the tree........don't let him see you watching. If you can get him to come out on his own that's way better than grabing him. when i was typing that word i was hoping people wouldnt take it the wrong way...not to offend u, i dont really "grab" him i lift him off his perch...not off the screen, and gently pull him out of the cage..i tryed puting a vine and a small ficus at the entrance he just dove into him bush when the cage door opened and 10 mins later no luck...but hhe will be okay being taken out very 3 days right?

in my own experience mine loves to be outside, their basking colours are completlely different in "real" sunshine:D

I believe that if you stick to the same routine when you do the transfer from inside to outside (take the same route when leaving, etc.), your cham will eventually adjust and the stress will be minimized.

Be careful not to let him see any animals or mirrors that might frighten him. I have to walk past my canaries to get to my back door so I always block Gizmo's view of them. My husband always laughs at me cuz I look like I'm doing this kind of sideways Tango.

The benefits of the natural sunlight to your cham are well known. Give him some time, stick to a routine and hopefully someday he will respond more positively to your taking him out of his enclosure. Good luck.:)

Something you might want to consider, depending on your situation is putting the plant and cham in a flexarium/reptarium or just under a small canopy. There was someone in CA that just had a crow attack his cham when his back was turned for a second (in case you run inside real quick for something).

Also, this may ease the anxiety of the cham from being exposed to predators, if there was a cover over him. Does that make sense?

I am like Toni and take it very easy with my little guy and very conscience about going from dark and secure inside to wide open big bright vulnerable outside.

YES!!! PLEASE keep your chams that are outside in a cage, even if they are just going to be there for a second. My Lombardi got lucky when a crow tried to attack him, it knocked his tree over and he was able to get away. Just not worth the risk...

He will learn to love going outside... Just be attentive not to cause more stress on the cham than is necessary during this transition, everyone here has great points. Maybe even try removing his cage plant with him on it to move him. Or even better, if you can just move the whole cage outside without having to remove him.that could be less stressfull as well.

i have misting systems, 40 lb plants, attached lights...man taking that thing apart would take a good 2 hours...ill just take him out and mabey make a chicket wire cage for him...im alway out there with him 24/7

no worries
