A way to get Dubias in Florida?!

Everywhere I look to get a Dubia colony going, they cannot ship to FL. Is there anyway to get some Dubias in my state? Haha

Go to the woods, dig a little, and you should find some really cool species that you can culture and feed from. Why pay when you can get them for free?

Besides, most online stores don't really care about the Florida thing.

Alex, Florida is loaded with Roaches, you know that!!! Yuk! Interesting to know that we can't get them shipped in Florida. i have never tried them cause I can't stand the sight of them and they freak me out big time. I guess that gives me an excuse to not get them lol! I am sure there will be some member who will be willing to ship some to you to start a colony. I just saw a thread a few days ago and a member was overrun and wanted to get rid of them, but I tried every which way to find the post for you under all catagories and I can't!!!

THanks guys, I'm going to take this opportunity to address a concern of mine. My guy has seemed pretty healthy, but hasnt eaten all that much in the past couple of days, usually he'll snatch crickets right out of my hand, but hasnt done so in the past couple days. I've been trying to get him to cup feed/or bin feed, and I really think he sees them, but he just isnt grabbing them. He just isnt going after food like I think he probably should I guess, is this a sign of a desire for different food? Because my set up is right and etc. I am starting to get a bit worried, although I know reptiles are champs at not eating for a couple days having owned some gecko's in the past.

Are you just offering crickets right now or other feeders and he won't eat those too?

I've offered butterworms, and crickets, thats all I have really been able to get ahold of. (I'm scared to order other worms because he already seems to completely ignore the butterworms.) I tried releasing the crickets to let them roam around, it may be he just doesnt wanna cup feed, which means he is even more stubborn than expected Lol. But I will moniter to see if he eats any at all.

How can you want crickets or roaches like dubias in such a climate ? I'm even here in Germany scared that they can survive in our massive built house. But when I imagine the construction of the typical houses found in Florida I can't understand how people can use those insects as feeders.

It's all we really have haha! And since crickets jump, I've found they do get out and etc. But most of the time, they just die off or you don't notice them. And as far as roaches go, they are common place here between the palmetto bugs and the other roaches we have, so having roaches around doesn't change all that much, and I find that they should be easier than crickets as they don't jump or fly!

you should still try to offer some otheer worms (especially supers, silkies and horns) as your cham may like them more than the butters. My cham will often reject one type of worm and eat another. If you are not getting you feeders online maybe only buy one or two of each type to try.

Will do! I will order some other worms I guess, lol. He is still not paying any attention to the cricks in his cage as far as I can tell. :(

Try horns first they are expensive but I bet he'll eat em. They get big real quick though so you have to feed em off pretty fast. One cup should last you for a while if you just have the one cham. I often let the last few pupate into a moth. Then feed those off to my cham also. He loves anything with wings that flutter. Then switch up and try silks, for a week. Then go back to crickets for a few days and then switch off to another choice. It keeps em from getting stuck on one feeder or from burning out on a staple feeder.

What size cup do you think I should get? he is almost 5 months old now. sorry for all the questions but this is my first cham, and I don't really wanna waste my money on worms. Haha

I buy the pre made cups from mulberry farms. They come with about 15-20 horns per cup. I'd tell them its for a 5 month cham and ask for the approp size horns. Im at work and I cant remember the cost per cup. I usually order 3 at a time as I have multiple chams.
