A second cage for outside?

So where I live there are not a lot of days where Antwon could go outside for the day, but I thought maybe it would be nice for him to go out as much as he can. Since he wouldn't be in it very much...could I use a smaller type parrot cage or budgie cage with lots of fake plants? I'm talking maybe a few afternoons a week for 3 months out of the year or there abouts. Would this be more stressful then enjoyment for him do you think? Or does he need a large cage for that small amount outside? Or do you think he is happier and less stressed not changing venues like that. Thanks!

I've heard people even just put a hibiscus plant in a mesh laundry hamper like this.

As long as Antwan has access to shade, can't escape and nothing harmful can get in. It should be ok.

Real plants, and at least an enclosure of 18"x18"x30" to get around is always optimal.
Thanks! Thats a great idea about the hamper lol.

And you don't think that will be stressful moving him around like that?

As long as the cage is set up before moving him in, and it's not some long 20 min walk to the cage, he should be ok... The temperature outside should be somewhere between 21-29 when you put him outside too, it's a bit of a sweet spot to try and get, maybe hanging a thermometer near the cage would help. Some folks here in California/Florida put their chams in outdoor cages until it gets too cold, so they're out for about 9 months of the year. They can be pretty hardy as long as they're kept healthy and the cage is just right.

If I had room outside, I would set up a few cages for my chams in the summer too.

Okay, that's good to know! Thanks!!

I would keep in mind of how much heat and how much to provide shade. Allow the cage to have thermal spot to allow space for basking and space to hide and cool off. Put in real plants. Like of anything that can thrive outdoors in your geography.

Whatever type of confinement you use, it will need to provide a hiding area for your cham and be sturdy enough wind or some curious critter can't knock it over. Your cham will be quite stressed by the change in surroundings at first and want to retreat out of sight. Imagine how stressful being stared at by a neighbor's cat or large bird might be. As he gets used to the temporary excursions outdoors, he'll probably enjoy it.
