Hi everyone! I'm having some issues keeping my crickets alive. I tried searching the forums but I can't find what I'm looking for so hopefully you guys can clear up a few questions I have.
I currently keep my crickets in the garage. They live in a rubbermaid container with holes drilled in the side and screen hot glued over the holes so they cannot escape. They're small enough that I can keep the lid off. It seems that every batch I get from petco/petsmart of 50 I end up with half of them dead. I give them fresh water cubes every ~2 days and cricket crack is their dry food. This leads me to my questions:
1) I've read that they need some circulation which is currently lacking in my garage. Would putting a fan (not directly, but a few feet away from the container) on them provide them with the proper circulation? Is it a problem if the fan does not oscillate?
2) How long does the cricket crack stay 'fresh' enough for them? Should I be changing it out? And if so how often?
3) My ex-roomate left a bunch of oranges in the fridge....they're probably not so great for human consumption - do you think they'd be ok for cricket consumption?
Thanks for your time everyone, I appreciate it!
