A Big Thank You to the Quad/Chameleon Community

I've had my recently imported WC Quad for only a few days and have gotten a tremendous amount of help from the chameleon community.

Laurie has been on the phone with me for I swear hours. Bill Strand has been sending me all kinds of information. Others have sent me messages or answered my questions on the forum in great detail. And now a woman named Cheryl spent I swear over an hour on the phone giving me the practical advice on how to get meds safely into my boy without aspirating him, hurting him or just killing him from all the stress.

This morning my Quad gave me the impression that all was not right in his little world. Laurie was adamant that I worm him immediately with Panacur, worrying that the parasite load plus the stress of capture/export would kill him in short order. I tried to get in to my vet today to get my vet's seal of approval on the dosage but couldn't get an appointment until next week--of course, he won't give me the dosage without seeing the animal for legal reasons. Plus, I really don't want to stress him taking him to the vet just to get the correct dosage for a medication I already have.

Laurie and I discussed how she gives Panacur into her animals. She got me in touch with Cheryl. Fortunately, I have tubed fluids into birds, so understand avian throat structure which is very similar to chameleon throat structure.

(As an aside, for anyone giving fluids to a chameleon, this thread is very helpful. https://www.chameleonforums.com/warning-all-chameleon-owners-80201/index3.html On Page 3, Ferretinmyshoes posts a really good photo and description of the throat structure.)

Thank you everyone. You have been incredibly generous with your time and knowledge.

:) you are very welcome, and I am sure slow boy ( I did not catch the name of your boy , so after you told me how you got a kick out of how slow he was, I called him "slow boy" :p talking to Laurie ) will be feeling much better soon - I can not wait to see him in a mo/ when he is all robust :D
sorry I had to go so quickly, but the lady picking up the horse trailer did not even know how to hook it up, so I had to go give a crash course in "hook up 101 " :p
Laurie and Bill ( and many others :) ) will be happy to help you - after all , we call Laurie the "Quadmother " ;) lol

Everyone has been so helpful and supportive and are freely sharing their knowledge. I appreciate it so much.

This Quad is so different from my little veileds.

And, yes, I am very surprised at how slowly he moves. Sometimes I can't even perceive him moving--I just suddenly realize that he isn't in the same place he was when I started watching him--and I didn't take my eyes off him, either. He kind of flows.

I just call him The Dragon. You are more than welcome to call him The Slow Boy.

The good news is the last time I misted his enclosure I found some urates--white urates! Still haven't found any stool.
