I'm super excited! They just arrived at the local reptile shop, I saw them and couldn't resist! I put a temporary cage together out of unused stuff that I had @ home then hurried back and bought them! I gotta assume that they're WC so fecals are in order. They are in seemingly great shape.. even have their tiny horns intact! About 2.5 inches snout to vent. I would imagine they are both from the same clutch as they are both so evenly matched in size. Anyway... YIPEE!! heres the photos

not likely...if from same clutch...then possible bad inbreeding..."wanna do it with your sister?...i dont think so:confused:"

Also Awsome looking juvi melleri....i luv them:cool:

I WANT/NEED a MELLERI!!!!!!!!!!! AAHAHAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

Nice!

They are great... I always tell people they remind me of "cartoon characters"!
Congrats!:D

Nice. Did that chameleon really ship in that box without being in a similar "body sized" container to keep it secure??

Thanks for all the kind words! No, They each had their own box just to transport them across town to my place.. I have no idea how they were shipped

Really nice find!!! I rarely ever see them being sold at that size if WC. I find that younger WC specimen seem to acclimate better than older, in my experience, so that is a big plus!! Congrats and good luck:D

Super nice!

The male that I got at the SC Rep show in Columbia ate for the first time this morning and I was super happy! We named him Shen Long (DBZ Cartoon Dragon Name) and it really fits. I want more! Hey, for 60.00 and some TLC, I could not go wrong.

Congratulations!

They are about the same size as my little WC Crab-man, it's alot of fun to watch them grow!

Congrats on your babies!
For some reason there are A LOT of Melleri for sale in Canada as of late. Weird, since they are not the most popular.

Yea it is weird... all the melleri around here. These are by far the youngest I've seen, 90% of them are adult size. I thought I was lucky to find my other two subadults, hoping to luck out & find a mate for my largest, Plinko. But when I saw these two I had to pick them up! It's lights out right now so I'll take more photos of the whole group in the morning and post them. Thanks again for all the kind words

I meant to say in my experience with other WC species. Was in a hurry:eek:

Just thought I would confirm.

Congrats again on the nice find.

Hi Jim,
it seems that I am not allowed to use reply button in the Melleri section so I am going to contiue our discussion here:

I guess that the problem concerning housing young Melleri together may be the same as concerning panter babies-they can be in small groups for some time as long as you do not change the enclosure (or its equipment considerably) and you do not "rotate" the members of the groups. So, since you are not the breeder of your young Melleri, not separating them may lead to some problems.

In my case, always the weaker (or more shy) of two animals, kept staying somewhere near the top of the enclosure, while the prey walked on the bottom. Therefore such an animal did not eat much and thus it was growing much slowlier. In fact this seems quite unusual to me because concerning other species I have experience with, it is always the strongest animal who tends to occupy higher branch than others.
