10.0 UVB Bulb too much????

Is it possible for a chameleon to get too much UVB exposure with a higher than 5 percent bulb? Possibly causing gular edema? My 8 month old panther cham has swelling around his neck, which looks like every other gular edema picture i have seen, but he is not over supplemented. I have cut out all supplements however and switched from using costal silkworms gutload to using cabbage and kale, along with water crystals for hydration. I have been mainly feeding crix and superworms and dubia. I had a 10.0 UVB Reptiglo bulb in but now I am using a Reptisun 5.0... I just switched the bulb today to see what happens... Im gonna give it a week or so... if it worsens before then I will take him to the vet, but I have a feeling that I will hear exactly what I have heard on here. Anyway,

10 uvb is to mucho for a panter chamaleon, how long did you used that bulb?,

it depends on how far away it is, how old the bulb is and what kind of cage your using, some cages will filter out alot of uv rays. and i have had a female that would puff out her gular area at times but other times suck it back in, never figured out why she did it but it didnt harm her. also ive heard it can be caused by to much vit A i think it was.

I used the 10.0 UVB bulb for a month and a half... i just took it out today. And he is within 8-20 inches away from it most of the day. Its a cage from cages.net with 1/8" suntex, which does not filter hardly any UVB rays... My dusting schedule is calcium w/no d3 every other feeding, Calcium with D3 once every two weeks and herptivite once every month... Hopefully the swelling will go away. It dosent seem to affect him at all... he eats well and drinks well... anyway

A 10.0 RegtiGLO bulb is less powerful than a 10.0 ReptiSUN bulb.
I have used 10.0 ReptiGlo bulbs without issue.

How is the chameleons hydration?

How is the chameleons hydration?

He drinks well, and urates seem white... however i have noticed a little rust color every now and then... I wish my mist king system would get here lol, I will have no worries about hydration then...

The Mist King is awesom. My guy seems to really love it. He turns awesome colors and drinks now when it goes off. Good Luck. Oh, and I use ReptiSun 5.0, with no problems. Seems to be a favorite amongst Chameleon Owners.
