RPCV- i have had chams the entire time i have had my daughter... i just keep a real close eye on her and make sure she stays out of reach of the cham cages that are in my living room...
it seems to be okay so far with my smaller hibiscus. if the bigger one doesnt pan out i'll switch over to a large umbrella plant in my other cage.
and i just bought it at walmart. not online. sorry no link. but im sure walmart.com will have it:D
so i was at walmart looking at the lights the other day and noticed that they have some 6500k CFL lights... i know, i know... cfl = bad.... but not these. i tried the light on my panthers cage first. the plants are going into a great grow phase and there are NO ill effects on the chameleon...

when you go fill up 3, 5 gallon, water jugs for misters and none for yourself...
when you spend a weeks worth of lunch breaks wire wheeling and sandblasting bark off of branches for your enclosures...

if you can get your hands on large size pieces of cardboard you can cut to fit and just throw them away after use. most stores give away boxes making it a free substrate:D.

if you have the money get an ornate. they are awesome. but you cant go wrong with common mali. they are usually around 50-80$ depending on source, maybe even cheaper.
this works well too.... get a steak knife or a good serrated knife and score pretty deep all the way around. then just snap it on a hard edge. the break was clean, and if its not just hit it with some sandpaper.:D

i had a mali for two years and ended up trading him for a beardie. i loved him and really liked his personality. he was my "little john malkovich" he was a bit skitish and would retreat to the hide whenever i entered the room. i had him in a 75g tank with a nice thick sand bed and a MV lamp on...

sometimes, if the bulb is too close to the mesh of the cage it burns the coating, resulting in a weird smell. just a possibility. my snake cage did that when i put a lamp on a new screen top.
