    Other reptiles

lizards I've researched the most but I would say many geckos would do well in a 2x2x4 like tokay, crested, gargoyle, chahoua geckos, or abronia

    Mealworns and leopard geckos

Yeah, that is what I heard as well. They recommend piercing the larvae before feeding to help with digestion, but ick. I guess I'll just try it for myself when I get a leo since there may be some individual variation involved. They also said most leos just don't like to eat BSFL, but that's a...

    Mealworns and leopard geckos

Ok, this is a very important take! Since you have experience with Leos do you know how they do with black soldier fly larvae? I saw those in legit Leopard Gecko husbandry communities being cautioned as less than ideal, but I worry to your point about that not being scientific.

    Mealworns and leopard geckos

Why are meal worms considered a pretty ideal staple for leopard geckos but not even recommended for chameleons?

What to do with large low exoterra?!

Snek :) or anything terrestrial. Small tortious? There's lot of options assuming you're talking reptiles

    Yes! Definitely watching later

Who lets their chamelons out to breed in florida???

Yes! I think there is a deep set flaw in mindsets somewhere because I've heard even from current chameleon community experts that they believe imports always need to be available to support a captive-born population because of avoiding inbreeding, maintaining colors, etc. Why??? Why can't we as...

Is there a way to check if my chameleon egg is alive??

Exactly, no one is saying buying eggs is a good idea. Buying a 3 month old from a breeder is still best. But people will buy eggs regardless because people are selling them, and we wouldn't have the best interest of the animals in mind if we didn't try to help educate the people that do buy eggs.

Is there a way to check if my chameleon egg is alive??

Like it or not it may be a market that's here to stay. One pro is the future keeper has time to research husbandry and how to raise a hatchling before it's born, but there's no guarantee that will happen just like with people impulse buying already hatched chams. I like the chameleon academy's...

    Running out of content

I can be like a sponge of information when it comes to new hobbies and I've pretty much read all of chameleonacademy.com, listened to the podcasts of interests, seen all the social media and youtube content of the major chameleon personalities, scoured youtube for chameleon documentaries (I...

    Safe plants?

That enclosure is very intriguing, what are you using for that? It looks like some sort of panel system you can just custom piece together.

My enclosure build so far (Zen Habitats)

I just opted to flat mount the wedges inside the enclosure. That itself was easy with some pilot holes into the frame and the provided screws, but then you have to make holes through the top aluminum screen to clear the mist heads. You could drill a small through the screen first but I ended up...

    Lacey Act Amendments

I realize it's probably an unpopular opinion but I don't believe in bringing politics into hobbies. Generally laws are passed for good reasons, and if the best thing to do as a society has a diminishing effect on the hobby we love, then so be it. We should accept this. This is the same effect...

My enclosure build so far (Zen Habitats)

Thanks! So far I don't think so. But that's also why I went with the screen floor and drainage tray route, for more control over the system

My enclosure build so far (Zen Habitats)

Here's my first time chameleon build so far. Open to any and all suggestions to make it better. It's a Zen Habitats 2x2x4; the only difference is I have a second screen as the bottom for easier drainage so there's a picture of what that looks like since I know a few folks were interested. Also...

Does anyone know a reputable breeder that breeds the mostly-white-colored locales?

Thanks! I never realized the common locales being common was due to availability, but duh lol. I'll definitely contact frams chams to see if they're planning any of those clutches coming up. I'm also watching kammerflage in case they have any crosses that catch my eye

Does anyone know a reputable breeder that breeds the mostly-white-colored locales?

It seems the reputable breeders are only producing the "popular" locales that have bodies that are mostly red, blue, green, or yellow. I really like the ones with mostly white bodies. There are some out there but from the bad breeders. For example nosy faly with white body, blue bar and red...

    Why am I not asleep?

I guess no matter how great of a 2x2x4 box we give them, it's natural for them to want to explore leaving it, and you become a necessary means to that end 🙂
