    Goodbye my lovely boy

Last Friday I had to take my boy Nosy to the Vets to be put down. He was a few months shy of 7. Over his long life we've had our share of problems that he managed to battle through against the odds the vets gave him. He was a real fighter and it destroyed me to have to make the decision to let...

    Help! fungal infection? papillomavirus??

This is great.. really snails? I have never heard of using them as a feeder. Has anyone tried ? We have loads in our new garden, but i always presumed they would be too slimy for them

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

@Beman this is how it was before I moved. The idea was to let him explore it . I let him once... with 3 meter ceilings it was the worst mistake... it was like watching a trapeze artist terrified they would fall. Had to dig the ladder out and get him back

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

He he yea those flies.. I used to open the container and release them in his enclosure and close the door and it was party time :) The flies will only mate at a certain wave length of light and with enough space as they mate on the wing.... I looked at getting one of these...

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

How did the BSF colony go? I could never breed them.. the lighting or the space was never correct. Thinking about having a BSF composter in the garden but the winters get really cold here and I don’t think the missus will be happy with them in the house :P

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

No, ones enough :) His free range takes up my apartment. He can also be a DIVA with his food sometimes as you probably already know with your chams. Two divas would be too much for me :P Locust no... Cricket no... Dubia no.... Silkworm no... he got me raising stick insects for a while :P

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

Thanks NashansCamos.. not without its struggles.. We are still dealing with a skin disease so we will be back to the vets again next month.. but overall he's happy and I'm hoping for more years to come, my little old man chameleon

    Fogger?

Hey Beman I don't have any humidity issues was just pointing out something to keep an eye out for as mold likes to thrive above 70% but if everything is fine on your end then I guess its advice you wont be needing (y)

    Weird Feces

It could be too much chitin from the superworms. It also looks dry so perhaps that took a while to pass? A wax worm poo is more goey and jelly. If you are feeding superworms try and stick to the freshly moulted white ones.... maybe take the wax worms and supers out of rotation for a while and...

Karma before and after her fall

Im so sorry about Karma. What did the Chameleon vet in your state say? Why did you feel you needed a second opinion ? As AmandaS and NashansCamos have said create a hospital tub.. so she can no longer fall. I would give her more branches to support her and try and make her as comfortable as...

Senior Chameleon Care - What to expect and what to anticipate?

Thanks nightanole.. much appreciated... Yea Nosy stopped climbing the cage after he hurt one of his claws. He learnt the hard way a number of years ago... That brings back memories the sound of him climbing the screen and me running in to carefully pull him off and tell him he is no longer a...

    Fogger?

It depends on the humidity of your house. The house I used to live in England had poor insulation and the humidity would drop down to 30 percent ambient. So even lower closer to the basking point. I bought a regular humidifier and then used some PVC piping to direct it into the top of the cage...

    TEMPERATURE GUN

As Klyde O'Scope mentioned a digital thermometer with a probe works nicely, although it depends what you are measuring for ? Basking temp ? Then you would need to take your chameleon's body into consideration as the temperature on his body will be higher than the vine / branch he sits on. I had...

    Extremely stupid question but

When I lived in a smaller apartment I bought a black out blind and cut it to the size of the side of Nosy's enclosure.. It wasnt pitch black, but along with the plants in his cage it shaded ambient light / tv light significantly while maintaining airflow.

    Comment by 'Rufi0' in 'Feces.'

Hey littlekiwi.. its a little hard to tell from the photo what we are looking at. Wax worms are nice for treats and every now and then.. too much and your cham can pack on the weight and have other issues. It's not a staple food, more like that chocolate ecclaire you treat yourself to every now...
