Thanks for the quick and reassuring replies! I unfortunately can't really take a better picture of it as it's dried up completely since this morning. I've never seen him making an, *ahem*, urate, so I wasn't sure if this jelly-like texture around it was normal or not.
Your Chameleon - Simcoe! 9 month old male Jackson's Xanth (I think xanth, not 100%). He's been in my care since he was about a week old.
Handling - I'll handle him maybe once a week, often times much less often. With the nicer weather I've put him on a potted plant in the house and outside a...
I have that same zilla mini dome and just as snake said, it does heat a much smaller area than a typical incandescent bulb. The light output seems very similar, but again, more concentrated as well.
I snapped a few photos of Simcoe at lunch yesterday and I just can't believe how big he's getting! This post is just kind of a general "thank you" and "let's show him off" thread, hopefully you'll enjoy the pictures a fraction as much as I enjoy having him.

Meal worms aren't a preferred feeder anyway, so I wouldn't worry about it. Properly gutloaded crickets can be a major part of their diet but I'd suggest ordering some more feeder variety such as silkworms, dubia roaches, blue bottle flies, hornworms...the list goes on! More variety not only...
That's cool, I'm not trying to hound you or anything....if they were mostly dead I'd probably ask the same too.
I've worked retail for about a decade now and have found usually the customers with the biggest complaints have the smallest issues, so my qualm is more an issue with tact than...
What does pre-packaged entail? You do realize that petco is shipped crickets packaged, right? I can understand your concern, but honestly it sounds like you overreacted to me.
I purchased a pedestal sink cabinet from home depot to use as a stand and cut an 18 1/2" wide section out of the top, then braced two 1x2's across to hold the cage. I then replaced the acrylic bottom with two layers of fluorescent light diffusing grid. Directly below the cage is a cat litter...
I'm by no means an expert, but have experience raising a Jackson's from birth. I work at a Petsmart, and our female Jackson's had babies one day so we had to get them separated and adopted quickly. Of the 8 born, one died almost immediately (there was an issue whilst breaking through the...
I work at a petsmart (though not responsible directly for pet care) and will say that the manager of the department makes a huge difference on correct husbandry. The petcare manager at my last store housed a female jackson's in a closed room with a large screened enclosure featuring a fogger...
