He's a year and eight months. He's very healthy and does just fine outside all day. I've noticed him getting more used to his outdoor cage because I've noticed him in different spots trying to get sun all day.
Yah he's been a little bit of a grump when I put him back in at night and I just figured he would like to wake up to some fresh sun and just stay out all day again. I hate bringing him in and out, but it feels fine outside for him.
Would this be an alright temp? Here's our weather forecast:
http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Owensboro+KY+42303:4:US
Sun set at 8:10,and Sun rise at 5:26
And what are suitable conditions for them to sleep in outside?
He's in his screened off outdoor enclosure and I wana let him...
Well I put him back out and its like 75.6 F outside & 78%RH and our patio bricks retain heat really good so its always warm where the cage is. But alot of small summer clouds passen over so the sun keeps comen out periodically.
I wish it was sunny out so you could see his colors really well...
Well that sucked!
I brought Leon outside for the first time into his BRAND NEW outdoor enclosure. Like I literally finished it an hour 1/2 ago. And I let him in, and after about 50 minutes of him getting used to it for the VERY first time, its starts PISSING rain outside! Like freaken random...
Woo-hoo
Yaayy I'm done! Everything is sealed in and screened off. No bugs getting in, ecspecially wasp. This cage is ready to roll!
If it wasn't so cloudy out I would be posting pictures of my guys in there but I just watered the plants and its a little chilly in there so I'm letting them...
Yes orange urates are a sign of dehydration. I would be running drippers into each of their enclosures and a good misting 3-4 times a day if I saw urates like that.
Here's just about everything you'll need to know about owning a female, egg-laying species chameleon. Sorry to say but yes veiled's will lay eggs without being exposed to a male. They lay infertile eggs just like chickens...
I fill a hudson pump (kinda pump used for weed killers and stuff) with bath water as hot as it will go. When sprayed it makes a very big, fine, luke warm mist shower. My veiled loves it, I use it when he sheds and when hes in grump moods and he always turn around and gets all excited and haves...
This is how they'll look when its done, but I sitll have some stuff to do. The door is going to be on the side next to the ficus, I want him to make a little journey through all the plants and explore a little to make it to the big tasty flower on the hibiscus ;)
Haha! I remember a while back someone told about their trip to the vet and all the vets had on hot pink shirts and it FLIPPED their cham out :p
Their cham was like permanently scared of pink
Thanks Olimpia!
I went to our nursery in town and picked up all the plants I'll be putting in.
From left to right:
I got an umbrella, hibiscus (really pretty one), swedish ivy, and a regular ficus.
I'll be hanging the sedish ivy and the unmbrella will be elevated pretty high up to...
Alrighty, after a long day of making trips to Menards, hauling lumber, cutting wood, measuring, and tending to my cham about to lay eggs; I got the floor in :l
I have everything to finish this up by tommorow afternoon. I have the plastic coated screening, and a butt load of bamboo to furnish...
Organic un-fertilized soil. I would take the whole plant and give it a warm bath and scrub the roots and leaves; and than repot in a new pot with good soil. You'll be good to go :)
I use cricket crack and flukers orange cubes. I'm still on the same bag of cricket crack :l
...I ordered it in like September or something crazy lol. I just scatter it around on a paper towel on one end of the the cricket tank and put the orange cubes on a little stone bowl on the other end...
