Thanks for the reply!! Its always comforting to hear someone elses opinion. Im not sure if anyone elses cham does this but sometimes when doug is on a vine or branch he wont be on the top side of it. he'll almost hang on sideways or underneith the branch. Anything to be concerned about?
This is my male veiled Doug. I believe hes about 4 months old. Im posting this picture up too see if you guys think hes doing alright.(not the best pic i know). But the main thing im concerned about is the reddish color hes developing on his head and and slightly on the tip of his back. Is this...
When i recently set up my enclosure i used a piece of metal rod and cut a coat hanger so i could wrap it around the rod. Then once i hung the plant i bent the coat hanger around so the plant wouldnt weigh it down and bend the hanger. Ill try and post a pic.
I've had my male veiled chameleon Doug for about a month and a half now. I think hes about 3 months old. I've been trying to work with him so i can handle him but its not working very well. I've handled him before when I first got him and kept him in a smaller glass inclosure, but since i moved...
Thanks for the info. Do you know what the bulb is i need? I might get some extra plants anyway for when i clean the cage so i can just swap them. Ive also noticed my cham usually has white on his mouth. Ive herd its just a way of getting rid of excess nutrition. But it seems pretty regular. Is...
Well I got a start on my new 2x2x4 cage for doug. He is my 3-4 month old veiled. Ill be getting some more plants and branches for him through out the week but figured this is enough to get him going and out of his glass enclosure. I have a 40W bulb for basking and a reptisun 5.0. I made the...
Can you tell me what two plants you have in the front of your cages? they are in green and pink pots. Im getting a 2x2x4 cage ready for my veild and looking for ideas.
Im getting a screen 2x2x4 inclosure ready for when he gets a little bigger. I just assumed that being a tropical animal they would want it humid. I cant post a picture from my phone but i believe i have an updated pic in one of my other posts. New vield owner i think
Well the humidy usually stays around 40 in his small glass enclosure with a screen top so i thought the fogger with the hygrotherm would regulate the humidity for me. What is a good humdity for a veiled?
I just started using a hygrotherm with my repti-fogger to regulate my humidity for my baby vield. It kick the fogger on at around 55% and off at 65. Usually only has to run for 20 seconds or so. Any thoughts on this. I also mist him 2 times a day
Today i was trying to get my veiled chameleon of about 2 months old to try eating from a cup which he has done a couple times before. But today he took a few slow steps tward the cup i was holding, then froze for like 5 seconds and then fell!! He seems fine now but it was really weird.
Well i've done some updates to my setup. I replaced the moss on the floor withe repticarpet, added a fogger, lighting is now a 24" 5.0 reptisun and a 40 watt bulb for heat. It stays about 85 at his basking spots and about 75-80 lower in the cage. and i just got smaller crickets. he is looking...
I will probably purchase the 5.0 bulb i see recomended alot for the uvb. would a normal house bulb be sufficient for basking? Im not sure if all chameleons are like this be he really doesn't like to be misted. i've tryed warmer water but he always trys to move away and seems unhappy whenever i...
It is screen at the top. I have a thermometer/hydrometer level with the highest branch. Not sure on the brand of the bulb. It was in a black box. I can find out tomarrow.
the setup is a little crude for now. once hes a little bigger or will eat out of a cup ill move him into a 48" screen inclosure. Im also getting rid of the bedding tomarrow and replacing it with some reptile carpet. (the bedding was another wonderful suggestion from the petsmart associates  ).
