I have a solution for this that is cheap and effective. My screen cage is 24x24x48, and when I want to up the humidity/reduce airflow, I have 2 of these that I slide in to block water/retain heat depending on the season. They work great for me. No reason why you couldn't use them to fully...
I had the same thing happen, even after I baked the wood for an hour after I bought it I saw some piles of wood particles appear on the floor of my enclosure a few months later. I decided to take out the wood and put it in a rubbermaid to see if what was inside would emerge. After a few days 2...
With the long weekend coming up, I'm wondering what you all do with your chams if you decide to leave town?
I've searched out the similar threads, and it seems that the popular consensus is to leave you kids at home with a babysitter, or just lots of extra food if one isn't around.
I'm...

You can probably work something out with one of the vendors there for regular shipments.
Otherwise, try here:

A few pieces of my FR can come off the wall easily (they're on hooks). Once he's on one of those removable bits I just unhook the piece he is on, and put it in the bottom of the cage. He climbs up off of it fairly quick and then I put it back.
My chams cage has 2 plants. A big dracaena, because they're great in really low light. You often see them in office buildings and other businesses that aren't well lit. Also a pothos that I hang but I adjusted the strings so that one is slightly shorter than the others, causing the water to...
Good news!
Today, he ate about 15 crickets (his usual). However, he hasn't slowed down on his pothos or veggies. If I see many more chomps on the plant, I'm going to take it out.
Thanks for your help!
He hatched in October, so 6 months give or take a week.
I keep Crickets and superworms on hand all the time since they're the easiest to get. He gets crickets 5 days per week, and a superworm every other day to every 3rd day. I try to feed him the freshly molted ones when I find them. I also...
Eliza: He's not getting any horns this week period. The shipments at the stores I buy from are not in. Normally he gets crickets. I usually put 15 in his feeder, if he eats them all, I put about 5 more. I tried withholding today, tomorrow I will see if he's interested and then try 2 days...
Thanks Ataraxia,
I have a hard time believing he is dehydrated. He currently gets misted 7 times a day using a mistking and has a dripper 24/7 so he has constant access to water. His morning mist is 10 minutes long, with 2 more short 2 minute bursts between then and lunch (only on half his...
Hi Guys,
Tesla seems to be on a hunger strike. He refuses to eat his crickets, but happily munches red peppers, leafy greens, and anything else plantlike I put in front of him. Is it abnormal for veilds to eat only veggies? I notice he has been eating tons of his pothos plant and I'm worried...
Considering the notion that carpenter ants in houses live in/around wood that may or may not have been sprayed with pesticide and anti-fungal agents (not to mention processing agents at the sawmill) I would probably say avoid those guys.
If you see him/her constantly keeping an eye on the fan and moving to put things between them and said fan, they might be getting stressed about it. They are naturally wary of airborne predators, and a fan might be triggering that instinct if it's moving and above them.
I got fed up with chirping males, so I now dump my crickets into a bin and pull out all the mature males (takes about a half hour per 100 crickets) and feed them the same day they come in. If you had more than 1 chameleon I don't think that would work for you though.
I use regular tap water (treated with reptisafe) and do a vinegar/lemon juice wash of my lines and nozzles any time I notice buildup of minerals. I would use CLR, but I don't know if it would hurt the plastic or not.
My landlord does not care about the chameleon itself. It's the bugs they had a problem with. However, I managed to convince them that crickets are a non-infesting species and showed them my cricket containers so they were all right with it in the end.
A cricket escaped from the feeding cup at my place about 2 weeks ago. He made it into the wall behind the baseboard heater and has been chirping non stop since then. I looked up how long they can live without food/water and it's a month in some cases. I tried traps and lures. Pretty sure I'm...
