Some New Shots of Ziggy (Veiled)

Snapped a few photos of Ziggy this week, how's he look? He's about 1 year old now, maybe a little older since I wasn't sure on his exact age when I got him. My only concern is his casque seems a bit small for his size? What do you guys think? Also, besides waking him up at night, any...

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

I am not worried about him biting me, I don't think he can do much damage yet. I will just take my time, spend about an hour today just working on getting him to get used to my hands more. He has no problem eating from my hands, I will hold a cricket by it's back leg and he will get it right...

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

Any suggestions for when he hisses and lunges at me? I am going to need to figure out a way to get him out to move him into his new enclosure in a few weeks. I am hoping with the new lighting (1 UVB + 1 Grow Light + More Natural Light) will help, along with the lighter background of his new...

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

Well I figured since the sire was a special blue veiled, and I paid more for that, that he would get some blues, otherwise it was an extra $50 wasted. The colors aren't really a big deal, I was just expecting more. His body is only about 5-6" long, not including the tail. He won't let me...

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

He also seems a little on the small side compared to what I have seen others post. I found two pictures I took last week with my phone, not the best quality but this should help for now: First one was him sleeping: Second is during the day, normal colors not fired up:

    Chameleon Brewing Company!?

I homebrew myself, I was really bummed when I saw this company because I wanted to call mine the same thing. I only brew twice a month, and not in large quantities to sell or anything but still wanted some branding. :D

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

He's never been outside of his enclosure. I know the setup I have is fine, I have posted for help in the past using the help form and was told everything was perfect. I am about to move him into a larger enclosure, with more lighting, which I am hoping will help somewhat.

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

Let me know if you breed, I might be interested in taking one of your hands. Ziggy is my first chameleon, but I am moving into a house this November and hoping to have a room dedicated to my reptiles, even my wife is getting addicted to the reptiles, especially the chameleons.

    So I emailed Petsmart today...

I have mad multiple suggestions about the care for their Chameleons at the PetsMart near me, and everytime the manager assures me they'll fix the problem. A year later, nothing has changed, but I noticed they do sell the Chameleons within a week or two of getting them in, so hopefully their new...

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

That's awesome! I was wondering how many other people on here had chams from this sire. When mine was the age of yours he stayed a dark green most of the time as well, mine never had yellow spots though.

When Do Veileds Get Their Color?

I have had Ziggy since May 2011, he was 2 months old when I purchased him, which would make him about a year old. His sire was a "Blue" veiled from FLChams, and I figured he Ziggy would get some blues as well, but I understand there are no guarantees. Most of the time he is a medium green, as...

    Low VOC Stains for Wood?

Thanks for the clarification guys. Just to be safe I think I will go with a low VOC stain, and see if I can find some epoxy if I decided to go that route. I am building the cage this week/weekend, and leaving it outside for 2 weeks to make sure it airs out 100%. Thanks again. I will...

    Low VOC Stains for Wood?

The frame of the enclosure is going to be built out of 2x4's, and then wrapped in screen, the back will be plywood to help with the overspray and very low humidity here in arizona. The back will be painted using a low voc paint, which I used on my previous enclosure and has worked perfect. I...

    Low VOC Stains for Wood?

Bump, any suggestions? I asked the guys at Home Depot, and I am not even sure they knew what Low VOC meant. For his last enclosure I used a low voc waterproof outdoor paint, which has help up very well. I wanted to use a stain on this to bring out the redwood I am using for the outside, and to...

    Low VOC Stains for Wood?

Can anyone recommend a good stain to use that is low voc and safe for a chameleons enclosure? I am building a new enclosure this week, upgrading him to a 32x32x48" enclosure for more space and better drainage than my previous enclosure. I don't plan on moving him into it for a few weeks...
