Well, it it depends if he shed just before arriving at your place, and his age. Like you said, the younger they are the more often they will shed. Just MAKE sure the humidity levels are at 60% at the very least. Once he is ready to shed, humidity helps him get rid of the flaky scaly skin. There...
I am looking to fill a vacant enclosure(s) with a pair (male and female) of unrelated, juvenile to sub-adult JACKSON'S Chameleons. I would like to find them locally. So if you are in San Diego County and surrounding areas, let me know where I can get good quality Jackson's. The species I am...
Hey,
Don't worry too much about it. The chameleon will shed! Just make sure all the requirements of its habitat (lightning, humidity, etc.) are met, and that Tarzan is eating and drinking daily. As your cham grows, it will shed its scaly skin. ;)
Thank you Jeremy.
Like I said, we used to do this at least once a week (when weather permitted twice a week in the spring and summer), and never had a problem until today. I had not seen a red tail hawk near my house for over 5 years. They are more commonly found/seen about 6 to 10 miles east...
Licking the branches as they take a step is totally normal. Some chameleons do it more than others. There are many theories about why they do it; some think it is a way for them to mark their territory, others think is a way for them to 'taste' or 'sense' another chameleon in the territory, and...
Congrats!
Congratulations on your new chameleon.
To me he looks like he could be an ambilobe... about 4-6 months old (just by the colors he starting to show). your picture does not give a size reference that could help make a more accurate guess.
I have been off the forums for a while. Busy with school (working on my MBA), kids (single parent of 3), work, my other kids (my pets; which include a reef tank, an amazon river fish tank, a pair of guinea pigs, emperor scorpion, and my pair of panther chameleons Sir Lancelot, and Cammie. I...

Hello everyone,

I personally use Reptisun (100w) for uva/uvb light and heat (All in one bulb).

Hello there,
Your set up looks good
I'm assuming you will have live plants to 'furnish' the cage since you decided on the 65k bulbs in your lighting. As far as how hot it will get, you need to try the bulbs for a day or so to see what happens. then you can adjust (removing a bulb, etc)...
