    Meller in Cincinnati

Good looking guy I am in Columbus about 2 hrs away. Really wish I could take him, but I don't have the space for the size cage he would need. It would be awesome to get a guy that big with the coloration he has. Unfortunately the only room I have that can take a cage for him is in the...

    Stigmas associated with reptile enthusiasts

long time rep guy I have had a number of reptiles over my life - 4 snakes, several iguana, more frogs than I can remember, and now 1 cham. He is the most interesting pet I have. Most people find him cool. Snakes on the other hand still freak people out. My wife thinks he is a great pet...

4 day old mantis eating a FF

don't kill ladybugs The reason you have ladybugs is because you have aphids. Ladybugs are the best aphid predators. Try and release the mantids away from the ladybug populations to actually control the aphids better.

i hit the motherload of mantis adults

illegal in CT It is illegal to kill mantises in CT since they are the state insect (or at least it was when I was a kid growing up there). Only the specific one that is the state insect though, not all mantids. Also, Chinese mantid females have longer thoraxes, but fewer discrete segments...

    Arizona Chams

treated wood is bad Stay away from treated wood and woods that give of oils like pine. Seal whatever wood you use well or the humidity can cause it to split. PVC works well as a frame, although not as nice as a good wooden cage.

    Feeders Feeding?

Still may be chinese That still may be a Chinese mantis. There is some variation. They are some of the largest mantids and can get up to 6". If it is in the 5-6" range, it probably is a Chinese mantis. Whatever it is though, they look awesome. My nymphs arrived last night and are...

    Feeders Feeding?

chinese mantis If you caught it wild, it is most likely a Chinese mantis. Those are awesome pics. My mantids and ooth should be arriving this afternoon. I am looking forward to getting similar results with controlling my dubia population. My cham has decided that the adults are too big...

    Wooden Tanks

I don't see good vents I don't see good vents on the system. I have seen wood cages with cutouts for mesh vents or even the vents you see in central air systems. A few of these were even fan driven to keep the air moving. Being a wooden cage, you could always drill some large bore holes...
