    Root pouch experience

I currently have a 24” round fabric planter in my enclosure, I also folded the sides a bit at a slight slant. So far I’m liking it but it’s still too soon for me to recommend it without proper long term experience with it. It makes me soo happy that someone with chameleon expertise is also using...

    Bioactive questions

Hi. I ordered and use Bio Dude’s terra Sahara for one of my leopard geckos which was my first bioactive set up. Basically it was expensive dirt. For my chams I got his bags...they are too small for a standard 2x2x4’ enclosure and like all of his stuff, overpriced. Go to Home Depot and search for...

Using a planter box for substrate in a screen cage

So I recently picked up the 36x18x36 Exo Terra screen cage from my local reptile store in anticipation of owning a new panther chameleon. For this cage though, I want to make it bioactive and have been having a hard time finding what to use to keep the substrate in. I saw that the Biodude used a...

    Free-range inspiration

Some inspirational thoughts for free ranging First, our living room is a large, bright (views on both sides) and pet free living room without small children walking around. Second, the free-range area is at exact the same spot as where a Reptibreeze XL (24´x24´x48´) stood. Many assume...

Is it good to have substrate

Let me just say - the bio dude is NOT an expert as he may claim to be. He went on the frog forums asking for advice, more or less took the soil mix recipes the frog guys shared with him, and slapped a label on it. I bought his soils out of shear laziness, at a premium, and they are mostly just...

    Bioactive questions

Thank you so much and I saw a lot of people say his stuff is overpriced. You said you did get his bags for the chams. Did you stick with it or end up using something else? His terra firma he said in his video is good for burrowing for eggs and he has some guys who breeds panthers said it was...

what is best for the bottom of the enclosure?

I've literally thrown a bag of soil over the bottom for some enclosures, that's technically bioactive. If it smells, your plants will be dead too, so it's kind of hard to mess up.

    Stella’s upgraded!

I used a bio bag, like what the bio dude sells but his are too small. I couldn’t find the right size in stock anywhere so bought one too big and have just tucked and folded. This one is similar and closer to right size...

    Help find 24x24 substrate tray?

All of the correct sized bags were out of stock and I didn’t want an indefinite wait, so I bought the 32” bags. I set one up and so far so good. I also have the bag from the bio dude that is too small set up and no problems there either. I have a layer of lava rock in the bottom of each and have...

    More bioactive questions

@MissSkittles The biobags do leak. I wish I wouldn't have purchased one. I am urrently using it my bioactive setup and the bag is way too small if your enclosure is 24 × 24 at the bottom. There is so much unused space with the gap (it's bigger than 1 inch around as it was advertised). Feces...

Using a planter box for substrate in a screen cage

Im literally doing the same w some of my enclosures and have done a lot of reading... From what ive found, you can do a false bottom using a drainage layer and the pvc pipe to get the water out. @jamest0o0 has suggested using a fountain pump to help w getting the water out so it would...

    STELLAAAAA!

Oh my crazy little sweetie! She’s definitely got something going on with her coco coir panels. She shredded part of one so she can stare at her neighbor. Then today I found she had gotten herself wedged between a panel and the screen in the very back of her enclosure. No idea how she managed to...

I just finished setting up my bioactive enclosure. It’s in a glass cage so I don’t know much about the bags. You will want isopods and springtails. From what I’ve heard, the best isopods for this tank are dwarf white isopods and the best springtails are the temperate ones. I got a springtails...
