Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

Nah, my isopods and springtails are doing just fine. 😁

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

Not likely. Carnivorous plants (other than Audrey II 😛) aren't active hunters, and your CUC would have to climb them to get trapped. Don't CUCs usually stay in the soil? (rhetorical)

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

OK, a small one is worth a try to see how it does. Since I have a bioactive substrate and a hybrid enclosure (some glass, some mesh) it might do quite well in there. I also have a plant light that I shine just on the bottom so it will get plenty of light if it wants it. Thanks! Sue

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

...wetter soil conditions, and most are full-sun, so make better hangers. Check individual species requirements, and caveats in the article below. I've had pitcher plants hanging in my enclosure, and their vines make for good climbing...

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

Ahhhhhh, very good point about her trying to eat the plant. These would be in the bioactive substrate and I never ever see her down there but why risk it. Thanks for the reminder! Sue

Outdoor enclosure plant choices and second thoughts.

...Jasmine will go to waste I'm just not sure if it'll be better suited for my indoor enclosure. I also have some goldfish plants, Hoya, pitcher plants, tillandsia air plants, a few song of India (a dracaena type plant), inch plants / tradescantia available and already growing. Maybe I can...

Update on my green mittened piglet and her new enclosure 🌿

...these plants before they’re put in the enclosure 🌺 I’m looking for some nice hanging plants at the moment and would love some Tropical Pitcher Plants and was wondering if there were other carnivorous plants that were safe for chameleons, any ideas? ☺️ Oh and here’s a picture of the piglet...

    Where should plants be placed?

Some "trailing plants" make better climbers (e.g. inch plant, pothos), while others make better hangers (e.g. spider plant, pitcher plant). Aside from that, it's aesthetics and personal preference. https://chameleonacademy.com/plants/ has a pretty good method: start with a center piece plant...

A Carnivorous Plant Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight in North America

No, I read somewhere that they are native to Maine but that was years and years after finding them as a child. I didn’t know we had pitcher plant and sundews here either!

    Pitcher plants

I've had two in my panther's enclosure since 12/20. They've since been separated into 2. They outgrew the enclosure, so they're out on the general plant table, where they're a favorite for his "extracurricular climbing". :)

Ok for supplements use the calcium without D3 in the container at every feeding then two times a month say the 1st and the 15th you will use the reptivite with d3 (this has vitamin A and other vitamins in it). Remember lightly dusting the bugs, they should not be coated. Now for the lights...

    Time to upgrade

I'm actually really excited now, the new enclosure almost hit 100% humidity prior to the lights turning on and with the lights on hovers around 50-60% with the mister going off to maintain it. Everything is planted now except for the pitcher plants.

    Just urates?

...each other, and seem pretty disinterested in one another (fortunately!). Adding another foot of height seems totally doable, and got a pitcher plant to add to the collection today :) Great point on temp difference affecting color! Didn't consider that and makes a ton of sense. Really...

    Time to upgrade

Well the enclosure is complete mostly, the isopods and springtails are in as well as 6 Morio worms. All except the pitcher plants and the second Pothos are in. I'll post pictures of the complete build tomorrow, now just to let it cycle for about a month.

Right. Like when there's a beautiful baby pitcher just starting to swell I guess that is the most delicious stage. I have one now that I defy Dino to eat on pain of death.

    Nepenthes care and benefits

Yes, it's perfectly fine to pot it in a larger pot. These are plants that grow in a large pot called Earth, so yes, a larger pot will be A-Okay. I got all of my nepenthes from Carnivero, they do a great job packaging their plants. They grow their plants in a high humidity nursery so do make...
